Not having enough backpressure is the biggest myth ever. The goal is to have minimal backpressure but maximum exhaust gas temperature. (If the gas cools down too quickly because your exhaust is too big, then its exit velocity is lower, which in turn results in poorer performance).

These mufflers are intended for any of the engines, whether it be the 2L or 2.5L Turbo, 2.5 NA, 3.0. If you are really noticing that much power reduction in low end you should check that they are installed properly (any leaks?), or even go as far as refitting your stock mufflers as a test to see if it is not just your imagination! Plenty of 2.5i drivers here have the mufflers and are happy with them.

Disagree with the myth about back pressure. Whilst it is good to have minimal back pressure in the exhaust of a turbo motor, normally aspirated motors do need some back pressure or they lose low down torque. Whilst I am sure these are quality exhausts I don't believe they have any dyno time behind them on each Subaru motor so it stands to reason that the results for each engine (2.0, 2.0T, 2.5, 2.5T and 3.0) will differ, its unreasonable to think they would be the same. imo a single outlet version would be better for the NA motors but of course wouldn't look as good but who cares about performance over looks

I don't know the teechnicalities of it and what not, but from what i can feel, be placebo or not, the car feels weaker down low in the rev range, that's not to say I'm not happy with the mufflers, because I'm stoked (besides the relatively large muffler body) car feels more lively up in the high rev range and the sound is fantastic.

Naw, it's not a placebo effect, Darren. For N/A engines, there's a fine balance between getting maximum power gains while still retaining the low end (practical street power). There's a point of diminishing return when you increase the pipe diameter, as was previously mentioned, gas flow starts to slow. At slower speeds, this causes it to be a bit laggy at the low end. But you'll see a good increase at the high end.

While the pipework and hanger brackets were designed to get the muffler to fit under the back of a Gen IV Liberty, the muffler itself was not designed for a Subaru - it was apparently designed more for the Chev Gen IV 6.0 and to flow as a single muffler with minimal restriction. So as dual mufflers on our cars, they are so far outside their original intention it's not funny

^^ Good point Smythie, and yes what I meant was the rig was designed for the Gen IVs, not necessarily the muffler design itself.
