Lets talk tuning (KiDo Tunes)

Hi all,

I just got back from a KiDo tune and am extremely happy with the result!
Specs: dead stock MY07 Liberty GT wagon 5EAT.

Fuel economy.
I had already driven ~3/4 tank and averaged 12.2L/100km pre-tune. By the time I drove 40km of highway from the Blue Mountains to Mascot that average dropped to 11.8L/100km.
Post tune, I set the other tripmeter for the 40km drive home and averaged 7.8L/100km! And that included a few 'overtaking' manoeuvres :)
These figures are dash numbers, not actual.

Power.
As it should be! It now has a decent bottom end with phat midrange torque. Great response and boost can be controlled by throttle position.

Gearbox.
Dead on. Once again, it works as it should. It holds gear when accelerating and has only bumped back one gear where it used to bump two gears when overtaking at WOT.
The gear changes are much smoother and works WITH the engine tune very well.

I-Drive.
Intelligent mode is now usable! It only runs wastegate spring pressure, which is perfect for economical driving and cruising (I think we saw ~9psi max). Sport mode is around ~13psi max and has really come alive, it's fun to drive in S mode and likely where I'll be spending most of my time. Sport Sharp mode is awesome. ~16psi max and really hauls ass for a completely stock automatic wagon!

The idle with AC is proven better than factory and Matt mentioned the uneven idle on cold start should also be gone.

I'm very happy with the tune indeed.
To put my comments in perspective, I've been driving a 340kwatw race-prepped R32 GTR everyday for a fair while now and the Liberty (post-tune) has really impressed me.
Definitely a credit to Matt as I'm generally pretty hard to please! Thanks again.

Mark :)

Hi all, just wanted to say thanks to Matt for the great job he did tuning my car, have a 2010 GT Auto and got it tuned on the Dyno by Matt back in July. Had a boost leak problem and could only get up to 13 PSI but still pulled 165kwatw with TBE and filter the only modifications. After I went through and tightened all the hoses I managed to get the boost leak fixed and Matt came back in August to road tune the car at the full 17PSI free of charge. The car feels great now and has heaps more bottom end and 0-100 times have gone from 6.2 stock to 5.2 now. The auto is also shifting quicker and I am very happy with it. Thanks Matt :D

Back in a few weeks. Have you checked your inlet surge tank just before the throttle body for cracks?

Hey all,

Had my car tuned by Matt about a week ago,

I have a 2007 tbsti manual completely stock

Car goes great now only makes me want to add more mods and get it retuned,
I was a bit sceptical at first but once I drive it after the tune was loaded on it felt like almost a new car
Intel drive is a heap better now with 'I' mode being more driveable now S giving the power that's needed whenever it's needed and S# is an awesome drive.

I love the flat shift it's something I can't get enough of doesn't feel stressful on the car what so ever
And the idle with aircon being turned on and off is something else

For fuel efficiency that's also greatly improved was able to do the drive from the Gold Coast to Coffs Harbour with tuning time and drive back which is over a 600km trip and still had 10 litres in the tank when I filled up averaging an 8.6 way down and 7.8 back up with a lot more spirited driving than the trip down

Matt was also a very friendly person that answered any question I had for him and had a heap of knowledge with everything I asked

Look forward to fitting a tbe and getting a FREE retune

Anyway I'm happy to answer questions if need be highly recommend this tune

Good to hear your happy with the tune.

What do you mean by "flat shift" not lifting the throttle on gearchanges? If so, Matt is this something you can do for my car?

Yes, that's exactly what it is. It's great fun, and makes changing gears quickly easier (does for me anyway). Comes on all of Matt's tunes these days, as well as Launch Control. First gear, accelerator foot flat (engine holds 4800 RPM) and dump clutch. Really nice consistent launches :).
And Flat Foot Shifting is just that - with accelerator flat to the floor, clutch in and change gear, clutch back out. No lifting off accelerator. ECU does stuff for that split second, and it gives quick gear changes.

Flat Foot Shifting is still being Beta tested on the H6's.

Oh sorry. You must've been talking about just my engine when you said it comes standard. I assumed wrong that it included H6s.

Flat Foot Shifting is awesome on a turbo because the throttle remains open and the engine pumps air so the turbo does not loose much compressor speed. That means when you engage the next gear you have instant boost, rather than a small delay. Also the gear change itself is significantly quicker. I would estimate FFS is worth 0.3 seconds down the 1/4 mile.
Stopping is not optional!

I haven't been game enough to try launch yet, have you got a stock clutch or?

Have PM'd and emailed about a tune on my 2.5i. Just wondering if you got to them?

Cheers,
