I just got back from a KiDo tune and am extremely happy with the result!
Specs: dead stock MY07 Liberty GT wagon 5EAT.
Fuel economy.
I had already driven ~3/4 tank and averaged 12.2L/100km pre-tune. By the time I drove 40km of highway from the Blue Mountains to Mascot that average dropped to 11.8L/100km.
Post tune, I set the other tripmeter for the 40km drive home and averaged 7.8L/100km! And that included a few 'overtaking' manoeuvres
These figures are dash numbers, not actual.
Power.
As it should be! It now has a decent bottom end with phat midrange torque. Great response and boost can be controlled by throttle position.
Gearbox.
Dead on. Once again, it works as it should. It holds gear when accelerating and has only bumped back one gear where it used to bump two gears when overtaking at WOT.
The gear changes are much smoother and works WITH the engine tune very well.
I-Drive.
Intelligent mode is now usable! It only runs wastegate spring pressure, which is perfect for economical driving and cruising (I think we saw ~9psi max). Sport mode is around ~13psi max and has really come alive, it's fun to drive in S mode and likely where I'll be spending most of my time. Sport Sharp mode is awesome. ~16psi max and really hauls ass for a completely stock automatic wagon!
The idle with AC is proven better than factory and Matt mentioned the uneven idle on cold start should also be gone.
I'm very happy with the tune indeed.
To put my comments in perspective, I've been driving a 340kwatw race-prepped R32 GTR everyday for a fair while now and the Liberty (post-tune) has really impressed me.
Definitely a credit to Matt as I'm generally pretty hard to please! Thanks again.
Mark
