Haha Well yes, Raptor headers would be nice, until my insurance company increases my premium by $500
Unfortunately the only thing that didn't vibrate was the seat and my car seems to bring me nothing but displeasure and an empty wallet, more like my girlfriend than a sex toy
Similar sort of thing is happening to my 3.0 Spec B. Around 1.9k revs I get a really tinny hi frequency tractor noise under light load (doesnt happen stationary). Its annoying and quite loud, sounds as if its coming from directly under me but after tapping with a hammer I couldnt find anything... Do you think this could be the header heat shields too?
Good chance it is. If you have a set of car ramps taking the heat shields off is quite easy, worth a try!
This however hasn't fixed my problem, there is still something happening at those revs making the engine run rough, just a lot quieter now that its not resonating with the heat shields.
Hopefully your issue is just the heat shield touching the exhaust pipe.
Oh so yours changes the feel of the car too? As far as i know mine is just the noise no loss of performance, its still under the used car warranty so hopefully I'll get them to sort it out
Okay, just an update in case someone is having a similar issue.
I got a little over excited about the heat shields, the vibration came back after going for longer drives.
I replaced the transmission mount today and the vibration has gone, went for a very long test drive and it seems to be fixed for good!
The rubber was ripping away from the steel in a few parts and the whole thing was quite squashed compared to the replacement.
This also fixed a another noise that I suspected to be a input shaft bearing on its way out.
$50 for the mount and half an hour to swap it over (quite an easy DIY) is a cheap starting point for anyone else with a car making these kinds of noises and vibrations.
