Yeah 18L on stock motor, e tune + auto. 16L on freeway. AFRs spot on. I was getting 12-14 on pump lol....maybe when my new motor and a proper dyno tune are done, we'll see

Optimal AFR's on paper dont mean optimal torque. Cam timing and on E85, even ignition timing affects the final AFR too.

No issues for me with just one...E85 20 psi...making power, no pressure issues...bought some spare rings just in case

Speaking to Phil it sounds like there may have been different batches of pumps or rings, and a few botchy installations to boot....

Yet DW themselves tell everyone to double up. More consistent and safer. You do NOT want the O ring to push down the pump and lose pressure by leaking. It is about as effective as a fuel rail lifting on boost and spraying fuel all through the engine bay.

Yet DW also say it's not absolutely necessary. Just that it's an extra layer of protection. The first layer isn't so easily penetrated if everything is installed correctly (and assuming people didn't receive bad batches). As proven by many consistent power pulls on pump and E85, by me and others.

Anyway you guys convinced me, even though it sounds like another fad on this forum among the likes of replacing entire perfectly good throttle body hoses just because the gaskets are crap. In the name of overkill, I have some extra O rings to be installed once the lib comes back.

when I put 2 o rings on I could barley get the pump back out!! I didn't know it was advised or if anyone was doing It I did it cause is seemed to fit and work better than having one seal

If using the spacer there's room for .5 or .75 of another O ring to be fitted on top of the original. So to get a whole one in - is a fair bit of compression and stretch on the existing components. It does provide a second layer of sealing which is good, but IMO either option is just as potentially lacking.

Luckily MSR suggested a better solution (overkill!) :D

Excellent, thanks guys.
I'm giving it the once over before the tune (plugs, oil etc), I've done my research on the great oil debate. I'm just wondering, what plugs should I be putting in and with what gap?

I'm on the E85 bandwagon now.. Only thing I don't like is watching the fuel needle move down quicker

I'm hearing good things about the Kido e85 tune. Maybe that's your answer. :)

Ensure throttle tip in and minimum pulsewidth before tip in is applied is tweaked. Rescaling injectors to be smaller on E85 means more pulsewidth so tip in is applied too early and wastes fuel ;)

Thanks for the tips but you guys need to take more attention to peoples signatures

Running E85 in the SSv. S/C lib is taking a well earned rest :D

Changed the oil on my car just then. Car has done approximately 3000km/6months since the last change. Running Castrol Edge 5W-30. I noticed the oil was noticeably blacker than it usually is with the same oil type after 5000km. I'm under the impression E85 burns more completely and hence has less carbon residue so I'm at a loss trying to understand this.

Can anyone enlighten me? :)

Also, is it safe to say the Subaru fuel additive is now completely redundant on E85?

Buddah will tell you that black oil is great and this means it's cleaning your engine better

On a serious note - e85 gets into the oil and it's pretty corrosive stuff, so there are a number of things that could be causing the extra particles. Only way to be sure - get it tested.

Not sure what the additives are made of, probably nothing as cleansing as running ethanol 24/7.

I would hazard a guess that your carbon deposits have just been cleaned once and for all

Dump it, refill and take a sample in 1000kms
