My Brand New My12 2.5i Liberty aftermarket grill help, lower

Postby Conetits » Wed Mar 05, 2014 4:54 pm

Hi guys, this is my very first car of my own. Took a lot of saving up and I am in love with my car. I would like a few cosmetic and maybe performance mods in the near future. I am looking for a clean badge-less grill that will fit my car and be easy enough to install. Also I would like some recommendations on springs that would make my ride just 1-2 inch's lower at max. My car is an ex-demo that has done under 1000 k's so far. Any other mod recommendations you fella's have would be awesome that i could work towards. I wouldn't mind getting some ecu remapping in not not too distant future..
anyone got any idea where i could find a grill for the 2012 liberty?

Did you get it with those wheels? What budget are you hoping to stick to?

Hi mate, thanks for the reply.
yeah, it came with these STI enkei wheels? the spoiler lip, underneath body kit, side skirts and front lip.

I have about 3 grand at the moment as far as the grill goes i was hoping i could get something really nice for under 3-400 bucks if thats possible

Nice pick up then.. I'd powdercoat the wheels charcoal.

Is your car 2012 or MY12?

Hi and welcome!

For aftermarket parts you can go on to Japanparts.com and have a browse. There are a few aftermarket grilles on there within your price range, although they're unpainted. Otherwise you can contact Garage88 if you're not bothered will all the delivery and DIY.

I suggest getting a tune with Matt (Kido_tuning). He's great at tuning and has tuned mine, makes a whole heap of difference, much smoother and more responsive power.

For springs, you could go with STI Pink springs or Tein S-techs or RSR springs. STI spring will lower the car a little where as the RSR will give you the most. I've forgotten how much on each, but if you do a search around the forums and on their websites you should be able to find the exact measurements.

I suggest upgrading the rear sway bar to either a whiteline 22mm or Cusco sway bars. They make the car feel less boaty. I did mine before i bought coilovers and made a lot of difference.

Since you've already got a body kit package going, you should look for a DAMD 362D/K2 gear/Prova steering wheel. The steering wheel in this generation of Libertys are so contourless, bland and skinny!

Also a HKS panel filter will free up some more horses, the car will feel less restricted and slightly more responsive without the factory paper filter.

I hope this helps! lol

Good stuff, that means more choice for aftermarket parts. If you're happy to pay $300-$400 for a grill then you can't go past this one. Add to that the cost of painting and you're good to go - http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_deta ... submit.y=5

Garage88

/questions..

You can't look past Garage88 for service and workmanship, get on it. They can supply and install.

Oh and as for painting the grill, any spray painter can do it. Just give them your paint code which I believe is 39D brilliant silver but check on your car.

Nice pick up. Look forward to watching your car progress.

I found your three searching for a GenV with the pink STI springs. I want to lower mine, but not much. Love to see a pic with them installed on someone's car. Oh well, keep searching.

I''ve got STI pinks installed on mine... lower the car a fraction (almost unnoticeable). but you get a stiffer and improved ride

I too have just installed STI pink springs in my Gen V wagon. 10-15mm lower, which as SYM says, is a great compromise between form and function IMO.
