As I read their website, they don't do the spray product here yet, that's only done in the UK at this stage. I've asked them if their adhesive sheet is uni-directional or bi-directional.

I also just spoke to High Octane Performance Coating again.

They've quoted me $150 ex GST to coat the downpipe in a 1000C ceramic (black) or $180 ex GST in a 1400C ceramic (titanium). I also got quoted $90 ex GST or $115 ex GST (black of titanium respectively) to do the hot-side of the turbo (though I'll have to disassemble/reassemble the turbo myself for this). They quote a 7-day turnaround on jobs.

Thanks for that, Thats a good indication on prices.
Good point is the VHT good ?

Not to sound like a tight ass, but whats stopping you painting it yourself with a heat resistant coating?

Having a ceramic coating applied with a plasma spray bonds (effectively like welding) the ceramic to the metal. It can be applied both internally and externally to the pipework (I am asking how they deal with catalytic converters).

VHT is paint designed to be applied in high temperature situations, but it isn't necessarily useful for preventing transfer of heat from one component to another. Spraying with a can of paint will also have a very different quality (both in quality of coat and quality of bond) to the result achieved with a plasma spray solution, and won't be internal and external.

It's probably not a bad option for the cost though. :)

Just saying

That's the first time I've heard that... :)
Care to share?
My ceramic coated phat dump was wrapped at some point (Jaydece?).

ACL over wrapped headers may reduce fire hazard due to protecting it from leaked oil etc.

Compared to ceramic coating - wrap is always going to be a fire hazzard inside the bay. More so on the headers

Wrap over ceramic can become fibrous over time as water retention and heat cycling makes the wrap brittle, and when these fibrous particles become heated, can act as accelerants

That's just from my research when I was looking to do both

Mick, isn't that the case with SS too? Unless stainless steel somehow absorbs more water than coating, the difference in heat cycles alone won't make wrap not a fire hazzard

Have you ever posted pictures of your car? I'm curious to see it. You should do a thread in "Post your mods"

I don't know, I think maybe wrapping with dei TI wrap (magma not fiberglass) and shielding it with ACL would mitigate any fire risk. That's what I've gleaned from my research. :) just my opinion though...

I mean I'm about to put it into practice so I take the proposition pretty seriously... :)

Yeah if its not poky glass I don't see a probless

I think its maybe a greater tisk with leaking fluids particular oil or incinerants

Might be overhyped but see how you go
