There is an injector pulse modifier based on fuel temperature so it does not make a big difference. Most of the issues are due to intake air temp compensations

fair enough ! speaking of intake temps I had a diesel car at work with a blocked dpf and it had 80deg intake temp  car was in limp mode wouldn't rev over 3k

The only Townsville E85 that United has planned, won't be selling the stuff until Sep :/. Their website said 'in the next few months' (but that was months ago). And only a 1500L tank according to the manager. Oh well, will still be great.

So Matt, if you want you can plan a trip up here Oct or so hehe :). Hopefully lots of Subaru E85 tunes up here after that.

I'd also be very interested in the flex fuel setup once it's done (guaranteed to buy it, even if an additional cost for the tune). With only 1 United E85, and the closest 400km N and S, I just hope their supply will be good

I've read this thread a few times through, I am booked for a tune with KiDo at the start of next month and have a few questions;

1. I already have 660cc injectors which Matt has told me were sufficient, but as far as I can ascertain, the stock pump is no good (presuming the stock pump is still installed, I will check). So what would be a good replacement, I've seen a few ideas and I know DW56c seems to be the best option, any other suggestions?

2. What fuel economy are people getting in a lightly modified car. there's been a few values posted on here but they were all high HP cars. I have headers, dump and full exhaust, and soon to be e85 tune, I have a trip from Melb to Hunter Valley NSW planned the week after the tune. I plan to go via Canberra in order to top up there (still 600KM) but I'll be taking 40L in jerry cans as insurance. This works out to a worst case scenario of 17L/100km on the freeway to make it, I feel pretty comfortable that I'll achieve (hopefully well below) this. I did this trip on 98 with the same mods and a KiDo tune a couple months back and it yielded 8L/100Km with some VERY spirited driving on the Ocean road.

Thanks in advance for your input guys, appreciate it.

Hi beardedbandit,
Yes, Matt suggested a DW65c fuel pump from:
http://www.carmodsaustralia.com.au/deat ... 9-652-1008

I bought mine from there, and received it next day (but haven't installed it). Your signature doesn't say what model your Liberty is, but maybe Matt recommends the same fuel pump for all models (I have an 08 GTSpecB). You talk about a DW56c, I don't know if that's a typo or another model. I only know the 65c, which is one of the few direct swap-in pumps, that is also rated for Ethanol (mayne the only one that is both).

Regarding fuel consumption, I have heard a 1/3 increase is normal. So a range of 400-450km is talked about (depending on engine type, driving style and whether city/highway. But I can't give a personal figure, since I'm awaiting my E85. 40L in canisters will definitely get you to your destination, but you may need to tip in 1 of the canisters.

You can buy a direct replacement DW65c equivalent from jacks gtb in the for sale section, for $30 less than the DW.

Fuel economy is shite. Used to get 12L/100kms spirited combined. Now it's at 18L driving mildly.

Sorry, should have clarified, 04 GT premium 5EAT.
Yeah, Jack from Kobe saw my post and contacted me, I might go down that route then.
1/3 is what I've been presuming, makes sense given my understanding of the science being posted earlier in this thread.

That seems like quite a large jump, I'm getting lower than 12L/100km now so maybe it will be slightly better on E85. I'm willing to find out anyway.

Go to Subaru and get a new fuel filter to do at the same time. It's $130 from memory for the filter alone but considering it's all out, why not?
Just don't do what I did and forget to swap the spacer from the stock pump over to the new one. Luckily I remembered this series of pics and comments on OzFoz from dazzz168:

No issues for me with just one...E85 20 psi...making power, no pressure issues...bought some spare rings just in case

Speaking to Phil it sounds like there may have been different batches of pumps or rings, and a few botchy installations to boot....

Yet DW themselves tell everyone to double up. More consistent and safer. You do NOT want the O ring to push down the pump and lose pressure by leaking. It is about as effective as a fuel rail lifting on boost and spraying fuel all through the engine bay.
