Lets talk tuning (KiDo Tunes)

Loving Matts tune for my stockish Lib 2.5T, 3"tbe, HKS foam filter, DW65c pump.
Matt expertly installed a Peirburg 3 port ebcs to complement the GFB GT BOV.
9, 12 and 15psi, all modes perfectly usable, plenty of midrange power, S# is sizzling!
Logging and LV's are all good.
A run on the Gotitrex dyno revealed similar output to my last tune with much less boost.
The new FFS & LC features don't get in the way of my driving and are there to be explored at my leisure.
Thanks for the excellent tune: it's exactly what I wanted :)

Does Perth not have roller dynos?

My tbSti pulled 170atw bone stock in Sydney on a hub, but I'm pretty sure I won't get away with posting that result vaguely as just 170kwatw. Someone like me aka the fun police will comment - that if you decide to inflate your power by quoting a hub dyno - at least be nice enough to mention that :) Which you did now, my apologies for being a pedantic *********.

Anyway, that $200 still stands if you want to throw it onto a standard roller.

MY11 STi Auto did 145Kw on the Tunehouse Hub Dyno stock and it went 187Kw fully tuned

Outlawownz had an XT380 and look at the power output of his Perth dyno figures in comparison, Perth Hub dynos are low readers and breaking 160Kw on a Mainline wont break a sweat when your first Dyno run as it came into RTR was 157Kw :) Since I am sure I know what caused the noises you had on every tune and the intermittent ECU drop outs(http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopi ... =3&t=10069) there is no more issues getting solid repeatable power :)

Perth does not have AWD Roller Dynos except for Maximum Motorsports(an EcuTek dealer)

United Fuel injection also has an AWD dyno... http://www.unitedfuel.com.au/vehicle-performance/dyno

Matt, thanks for trying, you're super helpful as always, unfortunately I've already tried that approach. It helped slightly but came back fairly soon after. My engine is not misfiring and plugs are brand new. Plenty of flkc noise still. Coilpacks checked etc. Often gets flkc on gear changes.

Opened a can of worms I did by the looks :p

If it counts, I'm def not a numbers man, more enjoyment while driving kinda guy.
Enjoyment scale is definitely up there and I'm more than happy.... For now :p

Higher "enjoyment" is hopefully not too far away!!!
mod -> tune -> drive -> get bored -> repeat...

Had a great catch up with Matt in Melbourne. I asked him to look at how the last tune revision was doing (uploaded back in March at the height of the rattle-ping wars) and IAM was at 1.0, no knock, still pulls well. I was just going in for a tune health check and not expecting more performance.

Then he says, I've been working on a few refinements which I developed on my own H6...so he loaded that up and wow, more torque everywhere and a real willingness to rev. :D

Apparently this is the new safe base tune...Feels like safe with extra sauce compared to the last revision!

Car feels great and I'm not fussed by the numbers, as I drive on the road not on a dyno.

A big thanks to Matt for continuing to evolve the H6 tune and being a pleasure to deal with. :good:

Totally agree with this! Had my first tune done in March and was happy then but this new tune feels like a bigger difference than the first time. I also wasn't expecting any more performance but now the car feels much stronger, so much better to drive. Biggest difference for me was just how smooth everything was, it pulls so cleanly from even below 1500rpm. I remember getting into my car the next day and being pleasantly surprised how smooth it was, because my car was always a bit jittery when cold before, but now that's gone.

I'm pretty sure fuel consumption went down slightly, I averaged just over 10L/100km on my last tank; mostly urban driving with a bit of highway. That reminds me, overtaking on the highway is a lot of fun :D no need to change down from 6th now, it just pulls so well. I followed a gen 3 B4 Liberty and when we both overtook a car he wasn't pulling away at all, and he definitely gave it the berries. Another addition is the launch control :D I'll probably never actually launch it but it's awesome anyway haha.

As always, Matt was great. Another big thanks to him.

I completely agree.
With the stock tune the car was a little "grumpy" when cold. It was also a bitch to get off the line cleanly without almost stalling it even when it was warmed up.

Post tune, the car is a completely different animal. It pulls like a train in any gear, even 6th, from around 1500rpm. Overtaking no longer requires fishing through the gearbox for a more appropriate ratio.
I mode is actually usable, S mode puts a bigger grin on my face, and S# is just mind blowing.

Fuel economy on a trip over the blue mountains and out to Orange and back dealing with road works, traffic lights and the up and down hills resulted in 7.6L/100km.
On a trip down the Hume or other similar highway I think i should get much better than that again.

All smiles from me so far.

Yeah, that FLKC on yours has bothered me for months as we all know.

Funnily enough, I got a phone call from Vinnie and during the discussion I mentioned the dropped bolt... he said all the noise suddenly made sense ;)

Also, there is quite a few Melbourne guys who after sampling flat foot shifting will never look back... get on it!

VF34 on an SH9 Forester ran a flat 4 second 0-100kph with me and his screaming girlfriend in the car lol

Great catching up Tim and look forward to seeing how your car evolves! Dont let the wife drive it or you may never get it back though!
