Ive never seen that done before. Is all that smoke just from the cr*p the upper engine cleaner removes?

Cheers Newbie :)

Adam, what I've heard from other people:
1) the more white smoke, the more sh!t is being cleaned out of the upper engine
2) the harder you drive the car, the less white smoke there will be (apparently)

I guess I can sort of believe the second point. In this service interval (5000kms) the car stayed in "I" mode 90% of the time because I'm babying the clutch, so I guess this amount of smoke would be a fair bit.
I use it every service interval (5000kms) so obviously in longer intervals (or if it's never been done before) there'd be even more smoke.

Do you push the stuff into the car while its on or off Nathan?
I never get smoke like that when I use it, and I don't thrash the car :/

Car sounds amazeballs!

Sounds great!
FYI theres a UEC how-to link in the pre tune guide... VVV
The big smoke can come from the stage where 1/3 or 1/2 a can of UEC is left to soak in the inlet mani for 20 min.

Cheers guys!
I sure love how deep it sounds...although, the huge tips have somewhat worn off on me. Think I need a change.
I have a colleague who has a set of custom quads and holding them for me until I'm ready to buy, but right now it's not priority.

Kody, I just follow the instructions on the can.
By memory,
- spray half the can into BOV vacuum hose with vehicle off
- wait 5-10 mins
- start car and keep revs up to about 2krpm to avoid stalling while you spray the remainder of the can into the hose
- stop car and wait 10-15 mins
- start car, and smokeshow!

This shot was taken Monday evening. Just dropped a young couple off to their formal and I thought the Lib deserved a nice photo for being so shiny.
Roof racks came off for the occasion....then went straight back on that night :)

As for mods, gearing up for another road trip up north. I installed a Genuine HD towbar. Now have a Rhino Rack Small Platform Tray on the roof racks and that's it for now, until my xmas break.

Over xmas break, I'm doing a clutch replacement (leaning towards a Jim Berry built clutch). And hopefully I've scored myself a Cobb 6 spd Adjustable Shifter and shifter bushings for a good price.

ETA on Genomes? Depending whether I like my future new quads or not, I might be waiting for you to sell the genomes too ;)

So it's been a busy past week. A few new parts...

Image

New Jim Berry Raceclutch - Organic Sachs friction plate with 3100lb pressure plate
Flywheel machined by Jim Berry
Subaru NGK Iridium spark plugs
1.3bar STI radiator cap
Kobe Motorsport silicone turbo inlet
Kobe Motorsport afta-MAF hose
Redline 75W90 Manual Trans Oil
Intake manifold painted anodised red. Similar to candy apple red- sparkles like crazy in the sun!
Anodised red timing belt covers
Anodised purple crankshaft pulley
New power steering fluid
New clutch fluid
New rear main seal
New Alt/PS and Air-con belts
New rear diff oil - Nulon Full Syn 75W90
All fluid caps painted anodised blue
2x twin tip 3" exhaust tips (not yet fitted)
....and I have a new big core TMIC coming in the mail.

Now for some pics!

Slowly stripping the engine down, ready for removal.
Image

Working in the late hours of the night, but engine and gearbox is out!
Image

Do you see anything wrong here, Ted? We've got no engines!
Image

The morning after...
Image

Mmm yummy new Raceclutch...
Image

In she goes... Bought one of those load levellers for the engine crane which made the job so much easier, and spread the chains apart so my manifold didn't get scratched.
Image

Image

Anodised red timing belt cover and anodised purple crankshaft pulley. Check out the sparkle of that paint in the sun!
Image

New belts in...
Image

Everything back together....and then the nervous first start. Click video below..

Started first go no problems! (ignore the whine in the video, it's not a supercharger...it's the power steering which had air in the system. Fixed straight after the vid.
Image

I think I've mentioned everything. Might be a few things but nothing comes to mind. All in all, it was a very lengthy process. Quite a bit of coarse language and many cuts on the hands...but IMO well worth the effort for that extra bit of uniqueness.

Oh and the new clutch is amaaazing! The uprated 3100lbs pressure plate holds power so nicely and with a minimal increase in pedal pressure, if any at all.

It was a big PITA to take the manifold off! I've taken off an alloy intake manifold off a foz before and these plastic ones are so much harder. Fuel rails which pass through the flanges to the TGVs are the main problem, you even need to remove the injectors on one side!

Other than that, waiting for my new TMIC to arrive and the quad tips should be going on in the next few days. :good:
