Coilover setup and install

Hi guys,


My BC BR coilovers for Pre-FL gen 4 came in during the week but hadn't had time to tend to them until now. I'll be installing them within the next few hours and i was just wondering if anyone has any tips and pointers when installing. Perhaps height measurements on the they used for their own set up just so i have a bit of an idea. Pictures would be very helpful if you've got some.
And I've read about the springs setting in overnight? how much allowance should i leave to accomodate for that?

Ill just have to pop into an alignment shop first thing tomorrow.

That's with 18" rims, 40 profile tyres

The gap between the two locking collars is 42mm in the rear and 39mm in the front

Hey mate i fitted my BC coilovers myself about a year ago, its very straight forward, the hardest bit is probably removing the 2 bolts at the bottom of the strut, these were VERY tight!! If you have an impact wrench/rattle gun it'll make life a lot easier otherwise do what i did, spray the bolts with some WD40 and use some kind of breaker bar.

Also check the spring preload in the coilover spring before fitting them, make sure the spring isn't loose, if it is wind the top collar up to compress it slightly

As far as them settling over night, i dont think mine did at all so i wouldnt worry too much about this.

Once you've finished get it booked in for an alignment

Soak those bad boys in possums piss (WD60) an hour before you start, then "hey presto" you can remove them with chopsticks.

hahah thanks for the advice, i didn't think of that. I'll make sure to try it next time ive got some stubborn bolts.

i installed BC V1's yesterday, and dropped 10mm out of the front and added 10mm to the rear.
Mine took a little longer(2-3 hours) as i swapped the strut tops L/R and modded them for more castor.. hello 9.5 degrees.
This was for a Spec B wagon, which now sits nice and flat front and rear.

What are the spring rates on these? The STi springs are rated at 4 and 6, front and rear, respectively. Cusco and Blitz have their ratings harder up front with 8 and 6, front and rear, respectively.

It was 6 at the front and 8 at the rear from what i remember (correct me if im wrong), plus all the adjustability
