Just installed this... Next stage is making a box out of Perspex to cover!

Perspex will absorb heat. Better to use fibreglass.

Your current setup....all it is doing is sucking in hot engine air....you require a intake cover and or box to separate the cold duct air and engine hot air or your intake is useless.....not to mention all the extra dirty fibers and dirt it is picking up ( your MAF sensor will become dirty very fast and will affect the car )

No, when the car is in motion it will not be sucking hot air - when your car is moving, it will push the cold ambient air in. It is only sucking in hot air when the car is stationary.

No, when the car is in motion it will not be sucking hot air - when your car is moving, it will push the cold ambient air in. It is only sucking in hot air when the car is stationary.

My point Mr Tang is the excessive / extra heat from idle stationary and or slow speed driving will not have enough induction flow to create a cool enough effect for the intake to actually be of any benefit? yet it will be sucking in more hot air maybe Vs the oem setup and therefore going backwards in performance ( forgetting about the awesome noise that the intake makes )

Thanks mate, yup the box is the next step... Just wondering how the MAF sensor will get dirty? Isn't the pod filter supposed to stop all this stuff from getting in?

Hey guys... well so far without the box it still runs good, hasn't gone noticeably backwards in performance. Don't forget that the air gets even hotter from the turbo! It all gets cooled down from the intercooler, which again is useless when stationary and it's a top mount, so even more heat! But even if I lost a few KW's I think it's worth it for that beautiful sound

Nice mate. I personally would have gone for something black to match the rest of your engine bay but looks solid.

Thanks mate... hhhmmm.... I'll either spray it black or just do more Perspex in the engine bay... as long as it doesn't melt!!
