I hope this stays a friendly discussion...I certainly am not pointing fingers at any one tuner or trying to say who can/can't tune. If I didn't think that you can tune well Matt, I wouldn't have said 190kw I would've said 180kw... Just keeping things honest for people looking for a tune and what to look for
Common sense dictates that without a dyno a tuner can't tell (or assure) their customer what power figure their car makes. Refer to my last post for the common sense formula and actual power figure owen's then setup should get. Why the need to give customers a higher figure? Why not be conservative and just say, "Look mate you car might be making the same power you had at another tuner, but as you'll agree it drives better now". Just telling them what they want to hear is....sales

Oh boy.

On a 200kw liberty? Considering how efficient the std box is (just ask Senator), all I can say is - got a dyno sheet? It will gain response, sure. But no power at that level.
Michael South quote: "Std air box is fine, nothing to gain in power, just noise, tuning back to back, at 240kw and gained nothing, waste of money, std air filter is fine too, nothing to gain.
Matt kido quote: "Yeah they sold your friend snake oil" after I told him my mate bought an APR (can't really blame this brand quality...) CAI for his stock golf GTI and he's hoping to make more power.
Bruce's car with a CAI, and a VERY (please correct me if I'm wrong bruce) similar setup to owen, made around 186 on a dyno.... 200+ seems kind of far off on the same setup even with 100ron but no dyno tune.
KiDo_Tuning wrote:your own car is running nearly identical timing and AFR's to the original base TBE road tune I sent you which made 170Kw@wheels. Just crept up on power to confirm there was no true knock
A dyno let's you creep up that power that extra 5-15 kw safely, as you can see what's going on in the car better. On a road you could make heaps of power too, but can't be too sure if the car could handle it for long. And I know you're pretty sensible when it comes to safety, so power isn't going to be exactly as high as a dyno.
My dyno only made 160...where's 170 from?
KiDo_Tuning wrote:Owens car butt dyno was better than it was previously

I don't expect a serious tuner to have to refer to bum dynos
Changing the S# throtte pedal angle to be at full throttle when it's only 65% down will make any bum dyno think there's another 20kw there. Especially compared to S.
You obviously made the car drive better or owen wouldn't be happy. So why the need to tell people higher power figures...You told me I had a 30% power increase after my stock retune...turns out I still haven't reached 30% even after full tbe.
A lib wagon on this forum in Brisbane, who we all know well, (after a lot of tuning) made 236kw on ethanol on vf52. owen wrote that you were quoting him 230kw could be reached on e85 on vf46. Why are none of these figures adding up to actual results we see on dynos from yours or other's tuned cars?
Having said that IMO your tunes have really nice throttle response and smoothness and power at the same time. Just not sure why you feel the need to overquoute...that'll just lead to people being disappointed and make you look bad, when in fact you're good at what you do.
