Well according to the email she sent, in Sydney it has only ever gone up to E71 which is what it is on now, and they aren't planning on increasing it anytime soon. I wonder if the factory flex vehicles can nail the cold start issues so that us E-flex users can enjoy E85 too!

You're seriously leaving very little on the table with E70 vs E85.

In fact the bigger risk is that you run too much timing, costing power and risking the engine.

"I wonder if the factory flex vehicles can nail the cold start issues so that us E-flex users can enjoy E85 too!"

In a quick summary ....no?....

Why?

Well roughly because pump ( depending on certain variables ) has a stored potential energy of roughly xxx BTU per liter.

E85 on the other hand? has a 20-30% lower stored potential energy roughly xxx BTU per liter.

This means it is necessary to use about 20-30% more E85 to equal to the same energy potential of petrol.

Conclusion?

E85 has less energy per volume Vs Petrol....
