Wanted to passenger/drive

Postby Mat04 » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:33 pm

I have the opportunity to buy a my08 tuned by Sti running car/ write off as a conversion but it's auto with paddle shift. Just wondering if some in Sydney with a registered auto with paddle shift could take me for a drive before I do the auto conversion.

If you don't plan on driving like a rube the 5 speed manual will hold up. If you are just going to be running the stock cut with boost, exhaust, cooler, and tune you will get away with a excedy slightly uprated clutch too. The only reason i ditched my 5 speed is because my clutch was slipping due to my car's near vertical power curve at 4000 rpm.

Was thinking about going the whole swap into my car as it would be cool to have paddle shift just wondering how it compairs to the manual.

People will tell you its cool. But you and I know it would be rather gay. Apart from the inherent weakness of the box the torque of the 2.5 would suit the wide ratios. If you don't dump the clutch or rush changes it should be fine.

No. I think the sport just relates to the way the auto gearbag hold gears. Best bet it is to talk to someone who tunes the things too. Ie, if you are going to run a single avcs motor with a dual avcs computer they may be dramas.

Fair enough. The manual Sti has the sports mode switch as well but that might only work on the 6 speed.

No it just become throttle sensitivity basically. My car HAS been tuned previously so could be different to stock. But the diff between s and s sharp is just more throttle with less pedal... Same peak power... S mode gets there marginally slower.!!

So will work fine with the 5 speed.
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

As a ex auto 08 tb sti owner....... don't bother with the auto....... 6 speed is the only option.
