Cheers! I wouldn't mind catching up with you next time I'm in Adelaide (shortly) to see what you can do with a few swirl marks and chips.. From what I've read and seen, you seem to be one of the best.

Do you also have a Liberty or just on here for detailing advice?

I would expect that there would be more like 200kw ++ atw with an avo 400-450.

There is a guy on here that had a 400 or 450 cant remember on his auto gt and it made 210-220kw atw from memory. And selling his turbo setup too.

So you might have found a gem and a half with yours. Chat to Matt kido racing and you will find MANY supporters on here of his work and knowledge. He will definitely unlock the beast with in.

Thanx mate!
Do you have a name for the member who has the avo?? I reckon i got lucky with this buy, even though it somehow took over a year to sell. You'd be stupid not to be questioning it ay

Here's the link for the for sale thread. Some people want to buy a stocker only... I like cars that have some extra goodies

Welcome to the site !

Very nie example you have there, with good mods too

The AVO 400 is pretty much a GT28RS, and the AVO 450S is the GT2871R, 450L being slightly larger rear

im running a 2871R on my 2litre and made 218kw atw on 98 - so id say with a 2.5 you should go close to 235 atw with the increased capacity notiwthstanding the single avcs of the 2.5 vs dual avcs of the 2.0.

All the same it will be a beast with matt's magic -

Good luck with it mate

Mick

Hi Mick.
Cheers for the info, hard to compare and feel turbo's when you haven't had one before. From my understanding, this turbo was put on with a smaller housing on it to help it spool quicker. Does this sound plausible to you?? Anyway i could find out easily without disassembly?

Yea it was on car sales not long ago. I think it had been there on and off for about a year all up. He never listed the mods when he had it up there.

Re: Hi Guys - New '07 Liberty GT Owner (With Mods)

Postby Aidos » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:04 pm

So i just pinned down the previous owner (after a numerous amount of unanswered phone calls) to help figure out the last few mods that have been done to my baby..

-She's got AVO 450 on her (how does one tell if it's a S or an L??).

-The Automatic Transmission has been re-built for extra strength, this is where the extra clutch plates and torque converter come into it i gather (along with hopefully more unseen goodies).
^^^ Within this tougher "Automatic Transmission" he told me that it has had a "quick shift" installed. This makes no sense to me with it being an auto, or is there some mechanical way to make the auto shift quicker that i haven't come across yet??

-And the exhaust is a Magnaflow system. Do many have this system and does it flow well?

I'm hoping to hit some high numbers if i can get Kido to have a decent look and tune when he hits Adelaide next..

Any feedback on these parts, and if someone is in the know of the 'quick shift', would be great! =D

That's some pretty good kit you have there mate

Quick shift refers to a tightening up of the clutch packs and valve body to make it shift firmer - combined with matt's tune it should go well

A rebuilt box with the above shift kit, upgraded torque Convertor is worth over 3500 so definitely a good buy

Nice turbo too ;)

Cheers Mike!

I'd be lost without this forum group ay.

So is it actually called a quick shift or is there a proper name for it? I googled around the place but only found manual quick shift kits.
I gather that the auto should be able to handle higher torque values now. My mechanic said it was a big deal to pull an auto apart and do upgrades to it, a lot of $$. Very surprised that there is no auto trans cooler installed yet if he went to those other measures ay.

What figures is your beast pulling?

Yeah "quick / trick shift" is old school terminology

These days its more "manualised" or "upgraded" valve body depending on the extent of mods done , or just a shift kit

And yes pretty expensive as said above to rebuild and fit shift kit and upgraded Convertor. Convertor on it's own is circa 1k for a decent mob to do it

Mine is only a nuggett nothing special dude.

Good luck with the build mate and enjoy the car

That'd be sweet to have a meet up, all depends when i'll be up that way though. Got a feeling i'll be heading away to Ballarat at end of year, then followed by a week away in NSW.

Are you trying to get in with the next Kido tune in Adelaide?
