+1 to that Tony

In terms of turbo size, i reckon your turbo will be good for up to 300 no dramas Justin

For a 2.5, they love big rear housings from what I've seen

My 2.8litre 4 cyl in my drag car has a 1.06 rear on it

Boost threshold (starts making 1psi) is 3100rpm so pretty laggy but it's a drag car. With the 1.06 I was expecting it to be closer to 4000rpm but e85 and nice static compression and timing helps with that ;)

A dual avcs topped ej255 could make a 1.06 come on around 3000rpm I reckon, with the right tuner!

Good luck with it mate so far you've picked some nice parts

Mick

Thanks for the above post mick! thanks!.....very interesting......I would enjoy 300 no problem! I was happy with the 275 sick puppy result...but like I've said before my preference being a daily street car would to be on boost around 2500-3000rpm...anything beyond this would be a shame...especially with me sticking to std cams....

its nice to have top end but on the streets of today and quick squirts...I don't find it practical to me....but that's me! :) I'm hoping with my fixed engine in place and new setup I should be able to have a bit of best worlds....

lets just wait and see....? :)

UPDATE:

Finally! Some good news and progress...

1/ Engineering has determined that the Block will be honed and machined to 10 thou (+0.25mm) which takes me to 99.75mm and will be finished off with some neat tricks and giggles :)

2/ Part(s) have been ordered via RSP ( real street performance ) MANY thanks to Trevor for great pricing and shipping costs..hopefully should arrive within the next 5 days

3/ Talking about parts I was originally going to get some cosworth phenolic spacers via Adam @ tuspeed ..but he has given me a good price and asked to try the "EPC 8mm Phenolic Spacers"...If I don't like them his happy to replace them back with the cosworth ...it's a Aussie brand which I'm happy to support and have been around for awhile especially for the RS liberty world
http://www.tuspeed.com/epc-wrxsti-8mm-phenolic-spacers-p-2160.html

List Of Part(s) so far
SC7426 CP Pistons ( compression ratio of 9:0:1 )
Manly H Beam conrods
0.78mm Cosworth gaskets
Oem Timing Belt Kit
Oem Full Gasket / Seal Kit
Oem Std Cams via Gambit :D
Oem STI Oil Pump
New Cam Covers ( rear )
Machined & Balanced Crank
Ported heads
ACL Race Bearings
ARP CA 625+ head studs
Tomei timing belt guide
Cosworth Phenolic Spacers ( But will 1st try: EPC V5-V6 WRX/STi 8mm ) via Adam @ Tuspeed :)

and.......I think that's it? for now...

so the waiting is upon me while I organize and get everything shipped ....once parts arrive it will be straight to the workshop for some measurements and final block and head work...then it's back to springy where its assembly time...

ehehehe thanks Simon......I am getting keen but trying to keep focused and keep on eye on everything....especially in getting the right parts as they come through...last thing I want is the wrong part coming from the US / overseas....that would be a pain in the ( ).( )

i have two question ???

regarding the cam shaft .. there should be 5 holes and the one your pointing to is for the dowel the aligns the cam gear (unless you described it wrong)

regarding the Phenolic Spacers.... waste of money when using a plastic intake like on the liberty

Glad your still around the forums! congrats on garage88!!!! just awesome man!

Thanks for the heads up on the spacers....will keep that in mind :)

Yes the pic of the cam shaft and the hole for the dowel was drilled out slightly bigger...on both the left and right side...

While we are on the topic of intake manifolds...
The STI intake manifolds... Are they much better over the stock liberty ones? Guessing they are straight bolt on?

This... Some people might be worried about the boost pressure on the plastic and it exploding

The plastic ones are pretty strong, MSR has his GC8 STI running it on 25psi...still holding up well...317awkw

the plastic type manifold seen on the liberty will hold at least 45+ psi no problems (trust me) but at that level flow and capacity is hopeless
