JKeep2.5i wrote:i think the 2.5i is perfect for a p-plater as the running costs of a 3.0r-b may be abit high for the average 18 year old, remember you will want to make her fully sick and pimp your lib out, plus getting drunk almost every second day doesnt help your wallet. dont get me wrong the 3.0l is a great car, and for a p-plater 180kw (@thefly) is very appealing, but insurance is going to be high on any lib at your age, add that onto your rego/ctp greenslip and day to day running costs you may struggle to put the petrol in each week.
for me being a first year apprentice when buying my lib i simply couldn't afford the 3.0r-b without having to get a large loan, the 2.5i is a great car and still does have some toe under foot, just don't get a 2.0r

I am defiantly planning to mod it, can't wait. I pretty much have a list of mods i'm planning to do over the first month or so that are relativly cheaper then moving up to wheels and exhaust as the more expensive bunch. Any problems with the 2.5i lib u got? Like anything should look out for when inspecting them?

JKeep2.5i wrote:like with any 8 year old car general wear and tear is the norm, to be honest i havent had any issues what so everwith subarus in general they can tend to use oil which you gotta watch, but the basics like make sure the 100k service was completed with the timing belt done and that the car has a good overall service history with no large 30-40km gaps between services
Gomez wrote:Hi Matt i to am 18, i Decided to purchase a 3.0L earlier this year and the insurance alone was just over $1800 just to give you abit of an indication on how much insurance will cost you (if you went for the 3L) transfer fees can add up quite alot to as i found out! and with the fuel thing, it depends how much you drive it and where, example if you drive only in the city a 3L will chew fuel bigtime, highway travelling etc they get pretty excellent fuel economy, hope this heaps alittle bit and good luck on buying a car!

JKeep2.5i wrote:try gio car insurance, i know that when doing my quotes when i was purchasing my lib, i was a red p plater and roughly gio was around $2400 and just car around $2700, i went with budget direct which was $1300 as a red p plater i was stoked with the price HOWEVER I wouldn't recommend going with them after going through the claim after hitting a roo though

Best i could find insurance for on a GT or 3.0R-B was about $2400.
Gomez wrote:Whaaattt how was your insurance around $1800...what state do you live in? The insurance for the 2.5l 2003 MY04 liberty at AAMI is 2800 for compo stock and just car its 3300 stock but when modded its 4150 AAMI and 3450 Justcar....Insurance is killing me...[/quot
That's insane!!, im in NSW and am with NRMA, $800 excess, ive had no claims, i can't believe insurance is so high for you :/ have you got it over valued? or maybe you could try putting your excess way up, if you dont get involved in an accident (god forbid) then you should save a good sum of cashHope tis helps or aleats gives you something to consider.
