There's apparently an E85 pump at Kirrawee Caltex but I've never seen it when I fill up there. I'm gonna take a good look on the weekend because if there really is one there I will seriously be considering jumping to E85! The Heathcote Caltex is near work, the Kirrawee Caltex is around the corner from the girlfriends place!

Not sure but isn't E85 a United product only? I think the Caltex product is called EFlex and isn't suitable for our cars as we don't have a flexible fuel sensor.

Might be worth checking again.

Not sure but whenever it has been discussed in the forums regarding availability Caltex stations are mentioned too??

Note that this introduces approx a 5% error into your AFRs, which is not significant and compensated for anyway.

I assume by his post it would be fine to run E-flex even though they have a seasonal blend

I think that's the problem with the change from 70-85% ethanol depending on season, a tuned car for E85 I would think would have problems and see a fair amount of correction in timing etc.

A car like the Commodore has a flex fuel sensor can adjust to the changes in the Eflex blend whilst our cars don't have a sensor and therefore would just start pinging etc.

That' my understanding.

If you are saying that if I have it tuned to United's E85 I will have issues with E-flex then I understand. However when I say E85 I mean it in general, and I will only be using E-flex. Coyote tells me he's been using Caltex for two years so that's enough proof for me that I won't have any problems

Not quite 2 years yet, but long enough to see the change in fuel trims. It is tiny and there's still no knock.

As with anyone with mods and a tune, you should be checking for yourself or getting someone else to do it.

Bruce's experience is proof of the value of doing so. I note he was ridiculed when he first started checking his car, but it now appears to have been a good move.

Yeh I agree, if your car is modified it's silly not to monitor it at least every now and then.

I don't remember anyone other than BUDDAH ridiculing people for logging though so that opinion doesn't count for much

Today I picked up:

- SARD Fuel Pump (265 l/h)
- SARD Fuel Regulator
- ID1000 Injectors

These will now collect dust in my room for 3-4 weeks until everything else is ready to go on

Getting pretty close now. It's so hard waiting when you have parts lying around.

Yes very exciting times! I want to keep a lid on what turbo I'm getting, want it to be a surprise, but I'm down to two turbos (only one is on the list I mentioned before). One will give me good power with fast spooling, the other will give slightly slower spooling with higher mid end and top end power...

I can't decide whether I want faster spooling or more power. If I go with the turbo that has higher spooling I might get sick of the turbo falling off in the higher RPMs. If I go with the turbo that has high mid to top end power, I might get sick of the time it takes to pick up!

Pick the one with the fast spool :) personally I don't know how often I would get to use the top end power!
Now driving the mighty 86 :)
