haha me too! Id like to see how the auto trans is gonna cope particularly. I might not see massive dyno figures considering the slippage from the TC

That's why you take it down the strip and see how you compare ;)

OK its been a LONG and horrid month in my end of the world.
Bad weather, breakups, being relatively broke, stuck in an empty house and generally loosing my mind has made it very hard to keep up progress on my build.

And then the package of happiness arrived!

Big thanks to Jacks GTB for all of his help and fantastic advice!

Just waiting on my fuel pump and boost solenoid and we'll be good to get started!
I also had a service at maximum motorsport and I must say it was excellent!!

It is great to see the Gen IV's starting to get big power upgrades. You will love 200+ at the wheels is all I can say, it just feels right in these cars.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

Yeah I have been dropping hints! I plan to do the changeover myself and then just go and get it tuned so providing nothing else gets in the way I'd like to be finished by the end of august.

Oh and as for the meet I'm very sorry about that, like I said its been a horrible month and I just kind of threw my hands up and hid away as it got worse. Id really like to catch up with you all for a beer soon though! Feeling a bit more sociable now :)

Thanks Jack! Again I cant express how cool you have been helping me get this underway!

And to anyone considering the kobe motorsport intercooler, just do it! It's a very nicely finished product, much nicer than the avo in my opinion! I cant wait to get it on!

Good work. I would love to open a box an be presented with a new turbo.

Kinugawa TD05 18G 7cm- why this brand of turbo?? They are on ebay and seem to be a cheapie?? Are they?? Cause id they are a good bit of gear then it might get me thinking and planning. Any one had these turbos running for a long time 20-30k??
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

I bet you find installing the silicon inlet harder than the turbo swap. I remember getting rather upset trying to get it under the intake runners.

I actually chose a VF52 but when this one came available on the forums and had a good rap from its owner I thought what the hell I'll go for it. I dont plan on winding it up too much as I want it to last for as long as possible. This car is my daily and I plan to keep it that way for many years to come.

Ok so progress on the build so far after an entire day of working on it we discovered we got NOTHING done!

Firstly the original intake pipe was horrid to get out and once we had finally got it out we noticed one of the ports on the new pipe is in the wrong place. By that time it was too late to go and get another length of pipe to extend it where it needed to be so we decided to just put on the intercooler for the day. Sadly that was a failure as well! It seems to foul against the stock turbo flange. We did put the engine side on first and then tried to bolt up the turbo side but without any luck. The cooler seems to have no issues with the new turbo though I havent tried it in the engine bay.

So we gave up at the end of the day with split and bleeding knuckles and decided to re visit it once my boost solenoid gets here and I book it in for a tune. That way we can just get the turbo off and the whole intake manifold if I have to! Just to get that stupid pipe in!

Well I have been busy the past few weeks! In between trying to finish off an EP recording and work and the rest I manage to try and spend a few hours attacking the car and bombarding Jacks-GTB with more and more questions
But finally after some persuasion I got my inlet pipe in!
Image
Its a very snug fit, basically no room for anything else around there, Nice sound on spool up but a bit of backfire so I'm gonna need a tune sooner rather than later. On this particular day I had no luck with the intercooler. The TB hose blew off basically right away, then I realised the ring on the other side of the hose
After taking that off and basically working slowly getting things done up about half way at a time and making sure the angle of the TB hose was right, I eventually got the cooler on and secure.
Image
Let this be a lesson to anyone changing their TMIC!!!! The turbo flange threads are very soft! My friend who was helping me almost completely stripped one of them very easily! I was lucky there was enough thread left to get a tight seal on that side though I wouldnt trust it if I took it off again. Lucky I have my new turbo to put on with un-tainted threads. Make sure you align it well and hand screw it FIRST before powering down with the socket wrench.

I have decided I'll let Maximum Motorsport change the turbo over, then get it tuned within that week. Hopefully see some figures by the end of the month!
Then it's suspension time 8)
