Update time:
Since the retune at Springy the car has been much better. I've logged it occasionally and its always shown no knock and IAM at 1.0. AFR's have been pretty much spot on and since I've had confirmation that my injector latency settings are fine and my MAF scaling it very good I've just been enjoying the car and planning my next steps.
Well at the retune at Springy, Danny mentioned that my STI mufflers are possibly one of the last restrictions I had along with the perhaps the stock intake.
So I've been researching, as per usual, and speaking to all the right people, and I made a decision to go with a freer flowing exhaust. And eventually, put in a Cobb intake and housing to replace the factory air box.
After all the research, I ended up giving the job to a local shop in Ringwood, approximately 10 mins from home. My reasons were close to home, and to keep the money in the local community and Australia. My other options were prefabricated setups from either the US or Japan.
http://www.performanceexhaust.com.au/Apart from his insistance I return the second cat for EPA regulations to be met Dave seemed like someone I could work with and let me know what's good and bad in the stuff they sell. He sells both the cheap chinese no name stuff and the brand name stuff too to meet demand from all walks of life.
I finally caved in to his request and agreed to install the second cat. All components are Magnaflow and the pipework was custom made in 3 inch mid section and 2.5 inch Y section. I didn't like the massive 4 inch tips that these systems normally are setup with so I've gone with a very OEM looking 3 inch tips. The work looks good to me and a nice bunch of people to deal with.
I'm now waiting on a quote from Adam and hopefully the price is right and I'll come on down to Tuspeed to grab it and then back on the dyno to squeeze a bit more out of the car.
Here are some pics.
