HI all ,

Recently purchased a H6210AG000 having been told this would suit the MY08 Ltd Ed Sat nav , however it does not and will be going in to swap it over.

I do what a few questions;

does anyone have an image of what the correct AUX input is meant to look like for the MY08 ltd Sat Nav edition?

And

On the Kenwood head unit we have the 3 sockets in the middle, I know the first one (white) is the reversing camera, and the second (Black) is the mic,
does anyone know what the 3rd (green) socket controls?

Thanks

I asked Subaru Aust recently as my local dealer couldn't help me.
They said 'for the 2.5 sat nav car you need the 100k cable instead of the 000 version.
The 100k includes the 000 cable but adds video-in.'

With that orientation the pin numbering is as follows,
4321
8765

1. Left Audio
2. Right Audio
5. Audio Ground
6. Aux-In Enable (Ground this pin to chassis. I used a screw on the back of the headunit. Allows Aux button to function)

On my McIntosh the connector was upside down.

For the Video in on the screen, my Sat Nav has an RCA input.
To have screen working with the handbrake off you need to cut a wire going to the screen (see below) and ground the end of the wire that goes to the screen plug, not the end that goes to the handbrake.
Locating the correct wire - On the rear of the sat nav are 2 rectangular connectors. You want the smaller one that can hold 16 pins. The other one is 18 pins.
The 4th wire from one end will be grey. This is the bad boy. Cut this and ground it to the chassis.

Just for info - The square connector next to the RCA socket is the rear camera in.

*All info given in good faith but do at your own risk.

Thanks For this Scott.

Did you have a plug that you wired to in order to connect to the mcintosh? Or soldered to the pins in the head unit?

Another question about all of this (MY08/DVD/SatNav/BT and now AUX),

The output for the sub (that red wire) does that mean I can buy an under the seat sub such as this one: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/prod ... cts_id=580 and it'll connect up? I asked those guys on the website and they assured me that with SatNav it wouldn't work. So I rang Subaru and they said that, if it's not a Macintosh, it will work. So, I'm not 100% sure. I'm assuming it doesn't stop you from lowering the seat any lower than it should too.

Anyone fitted the sub to the Limited Edition model with an AUX plug aswell?

Dont get the underseat sub. Aaron (Devour) has one and he thinks its shit (as do I). The issue is that it will not high pass the speakers so they will continue to play bass freqs anyway and will distort at high volumes and the sub itself is VERY small. I think its only a 6" speaker in a box. Its tiny! Definately not worth the time, money or hassle.

What appeals to me with the sub is that it's hidden, I can control it using the factory screen and that it's plug and play. To be honest, I'm not after GREAT sound. I'll be keeping my factory speakers for the life of the car. The stock system, for me, is fine but the lack of bass is noticeable.

Does any other sub do exactly the same thing?

I'm not very good with wiring etc.

I enquired about getting a sub put in at the local car audio place a few weeks ago.

I told them that i dont want to change the factory HU/AMP.

They said they can tap into the wiring coming out of the HU, install RCA converters and run them to the boot where it they'd be connected to a boxed sub with its own amp.

So basically my factory speakers will still be running off the factory AMP, and the sub will be running off its own amp.

Do what I'm doing but just use one sub, you can still control it from the H/U... or put an 8" the parcell shelf, still not ideal imo, but better than stock...

Dvd video disc ?
I've already tried a movie in the glovebox player and all I got was a message saying ' this is not a map disc'.

Ahh, you have a different one that in the MY08 2.5i (SATNAV Edition)

The 2.5i in the MY08 had a limited edtion run where it had an integrated DVD/SatNav/Bluetooth in the unit itself, so no separate Satnav unit under the seat or DVD player in the glovebox.

The unit itself has two slots, 1 behind a flip down cover (in pic with the DVD label on it) for the DVD map disc, and a slot above for DVD's and CD's.

Here is what the unit looks like.

Hi! I've gone through the thread but aside from a simple single DIN install into my own car, I have little experience in car audio.

I have the model pictured here.

Is there any simple way to obtain iPhone integration with this stereo? If not, is there a hard way?

I'm hoping for control of the phone from the head unit... Possible?

It was mentioned in one of the earlier posts by solongaudi (a possible subaru or aftermarket 'plug' from the MY10 range or similar) but seems to have been forgotten.

Is this relevant for australian owners? That 20 pin plug seems to exist still in the photos people have kindly taken on this thread, can it be used to obtain iPhone connectivity?

EDIT: Thanks SVXdc for showing me how to fix up the link!

The rectangular-shaped OEM sub connects by tapping the HU's front speaker outputs. If you get the style intended for factory radios with a 14-pin harness, that sub will work with the satnav. However, your on-screen sub settings won't control it.

You can add the RCA jack for the subwoofer output (via either the OEM "Cord Convert" cable or by adding an RCA jack directly to the empty slots on your factory 24-pin harness. Then connect that to an aftermarket sub (under-seat or other).

-- OR --

You can install the odd-shaped OEM sub shown in this thread, wiring that to the satnav's sub output (for this sub, you do not want the RCA jack on the satnav).

In either case, your on-screen menus will control those subs.

See this thread I just updated: Sub controls on factory sat nav
