sweet....... So no mods to the tmic, just the front housing of the turbo?????

dyno numbers mean nothing, it's the overall drive and size of the smile on your face   ..... and maybe the hole in your wallet

= affirmative bro! the way it's been done is good for future plans, upgrades or if I sell these items together or separately ( in which it wont happen! ) just saying........

and maybe the hole in your wallet = Ahahahahahahahahaha Tru To Dat Statement!

Agreed! Dyno numbers are just the icing on the cake, drivability, reliability and 110% satisfaction is what puts a smile :D

Tony? You still interested in my blouch? or have you sorted that out already?

hey mate! sweet thanks!

HP/F and all my mates keep bugging me about E85, I'd love to do it but would probably need to:

1/ bigger injectors e.g xpurts 1000cc
2/ fuel rail upgrade?
3/ another fuel pump?
4/ misc / etc

My biggest setback is no and lack of E85 stations in my area......

Even if you have to drive half and hour to buy fuel, it's worth it.

I haven't tuned a set yet, but so many people are happy with the ID1000s, I don't think you can go past them. All tuning data is available, so it would be simple (as opposed to my DWs).

You won't need a secondary fuel pump. Does whatever you have flow 280l/h or more? I've looked at the rails and reckon they are fine too. 2000cc and I'd be upgrading them (and whatever else breaks).

Nothing else to do except enjoy the free power, lower cylinder temps and complete absence of knock.

Do it. You won't regret it.

Jaydece's Mini Development Project

Postby Gambit » Fri Sep 23, 2011 5:42 pm

Yeah pretty much a nip and tuck. Need to sort out the chassis, not entirely happy with the way it handles and brakes tbh. Good ole Marty he has seen me come and go there over many years now hahaha.

Re: e85 a lack of fueling stops sucks in melb, but more so the variability of ethanol content, give it time the boys in the states are almost there re: openecu tune for dual mapping.

gambit = that would be the PERFECT world wouldn't it for us liberty people? various tunes / flash tunes......just like my ford territory using the X3 flash.... it's set to valet, petrol and LPG......farken love it!

exactly gambit....and thats the other problem....each servo has varying mixtures in petrol blend with ethanol.....

during summer - e70 - e85
during winter - e60 - e85

in addition.....hard starting issues, thats why my mate scott ended up installing a small pump/injector and small tank of petrol to help start the car in the morning...but ever since he started filing up at caltex he doesnt do this anymore.....

Even if you have to drive half and hour to buy fuel, it's worth it. = I know..........ARGH! but what about the crappy full to empty tank? I'm getting about 350 - 400 km per full tank on petrol with E85 I'd probably get 200 - 300 km? not that I drive the car daily.....just saying

I haven't tuned a set yet, but so many people are happy with the ID1000s, I don't think you can go past them. All tuning data is available, so it would be simple (as opposed to my DWs). = I'm running DW 750cc........( there ok ) thats all i'm saying.....i totally agree with the ID's

You won't need a secondary fuel pump. Does whatever you have flow 280l/h or more? I've looked at the rails and reckon they are fine too. 2000cc and I'd be upgrading them (and whatever else breaks). = running a SARD fuel pump? forgot what the flow rate was per hour? can anyone enlighten me?

Nothing else to do except enjoy the free power, lower cylinder temps and complete absence of knock. = the exact phrase my mate Scott keeps telling me....over and over again....

Do it. You won't regret it. = it's a matter of when......I guess...

But thanks for the info and heads up

I have a netbook that lives in the car, so changing tunes takes less time than checking the tyre pressures.

Caltex E-Flex will never be less than E70 and I'm yet to see any variation worth worrying about.

Like most things to do with E85, the problems exist more on the internet, than in reality.

If you're having trouble with the DWs, let me know. I've tuned a few and have a fair bit of data.

Justin E85 will be the best way to ensure you can still run safe power levels whilst keeping your TMIC.

Re: Jaydece's Mini Development Project

Postby jaydece » Wed Sep 28, 2011 9:11 am

Morning All,

Got my car back..and the result I got isnt really what I was expecting.....let me explain:

Keep in mind I only found the below out when I went to pick up the car on monday night just after it got dynoed.

1/ car was dyno before turbo fitment and etc and barely made 210kw atw ( wtf! ) lost 20+ kilowasps!!!!!

2/ when the car was dyno again after all parts fitted it made just bit more power/torque as the previous setup ( 233.5 + - ) left the dyno chart at hp/f so I cant post it up atm

so my car lost power but then made the same power........?????????????????????????????????????? :?:

BOOST: 18psi ( tuner marty tried to bump it up but it started to ping )
IDC: under 80%

Looking at the graph it has more mid / top end power + torque, it ramps up nicely compared to the blouch setup where it used to shoot up and run out off puff....The garrett is transient as they say....

When I drive it I do notice its bit "laggier" then the blouch which kicks in at about 2700rpm, the garrett about 3100rpm.......but man.....the mid range and top end is UNBELIEVABLE! This turbo has allot in her!! remembering I'm only on 18 PSI....this turbo has a sweet spot at about 20-30 psi. I'm still getting used to how it kicks in.....you dont get the whip lash feeling....it's very smooth but pulls hard! cant even hear it spooling at full boost!.......Initially I thought I had made a mistake choosing this turbo....but It's growing on me as days go by...throttle response is much better when you need to thump it....the car is much stronger and better despite dyno results.....that much I can share with you....

I spoke to tuner marty about my result and asked if there was something wrong with my car? they checked everything before and after and could not find nothing wrong? The only conclusion he can come up with is: FUEL! He has seen this happen to other cars before......

now I know thats allot of power to lose just on fuel and I myself is finding it hard to believe....but I rembered that ever since I got the car I've always used BP ultimate.....but looking back I filled up with V power 2 days before the car went in......dont know if this is the answer I'm looking for....but who knows?

another thing that I considered was: TMIC ???? restriction of flow? not efficient enough? etc...........any other ideas?

next step from here is to run through some BP ultimate and probably get a retune hopefully before dyno day

The E85 debate occured again and I'm still thinking about that......

and thats it for now....will post some pics of engine bay soon.......
