whose car was that on? There is only one other 3.0TT after mine to come out of Pulse since then to my knowledge and that was a mess with bits of carpet hanging out everywhere [the client changed the build to his own preferred specs including turbos out of a GTR - resulting in a truly flawed beast which I think he sold soon after - (no offence intended)].
Didn't think it came much tidier than my engine bay, but I could be wrong. Certainly, at last years Autosalon it was quite the hit with the fans though:

My apologies for being away from this topic for so long.
Thankfully that cynical wan#@r "Ian" has been banned by Ric for his abject inability to show any respect to fellow forum members. Despite, some of his the things he said being correct and I highlight only some, It was clear that he had nothing better to do than just get sad kicks out of being rude to everybody, and was too much of a coward to come and have an arguement face to face despite repeated invitations.
With my EZ36 dismantled I can safely say that there are indeed two cams per bank and it has AVCS/AVLS for both banks.

"runamuk" Its a shame you've dropped the idea of doing the EZ36. For completely understandable reasons though, spare parts being a big one (although give the EZ36 a couple more years and there's bound to be better availability), but also forged internals for the EZ30 are obtainable off the shelf whereas for the EZ36 they gotta be custom made. So, you either gotta have deep pockets or team up with a keen workshop and get them to use your car and build, for R&D (the latter is what I'm doing).
Good luck with it all, keep us posted, I'd be very keen to have a ride in this thing when its finnished :buba: I mean the weight advantage of gen3 vs gen4 is significant!

@ demobboss,

as i have not yet even got my car back from the workshop doing the ej20tt replacement, (fkn 9 weeks now), i have put enough money aside to go either way. in 3 months our workshop will be ready to go again, the new transport company well under way, and i'll have enough time to do the job myself. i would still love to do an ez36tt, custom interior, detailed smoothed engine bay with hidden wiring, and detailed undercarriage. all can be done in our shop, but the issue is, still parts availability...will see when the time comes...

keep an eye on this page...

will decide by end of february!

thanks, nah havnt found one, just got the car back today...looking for fmic kit, bonnet, and then ecutek4!!! coz when the ez30tt goes in, im putting this setup in a brumby! given 90% of parts needed to be replaced, or were not with the cut, i now have to postpone the h6 version anyway. (NGJAP are fukn useless, money thieving criminals, and should be put out of business).I had to replace primary turbo, acquire ALL vacuum parts (inc. black box of doom), exhaust, diff (the one supplied didnt match the gearbox), replace exhaust manifold and exhaust bypass valve, cam gears, alternator, starter motor, etc. etc. cost me $2700 to replace what he didnt provide (I paid for a complete conversion kit)...please be aware of these scammers!!!

hey all, just calmed down enough to post an update...

well, i placed my last post from the workshop my car was at, whilst they were doing the startup, and final checks for me to go home.

Well, considering my last post, "I had to replace primary turbo, acquire ALL vacuum parts (inc. black box of doom), exhaust, diff (the one supplied didnt match the gearbox), replace exhaust manifold and exhaust bypass valve, cam gears, alternator, starter motor, etc. etc. cost me $2700 to replace what he didnt provide (I paid for a complete conversion kit)..."

you can only imagine my readiness to commit the most viol of actions against the f**k who sold me the conversion, when upon starting the car, a BIG END KNOCK, was making itself the centre of attention...

NG JAP, are refusing to provide a refund or replacement under the compulsory 3 month warranty, so a legal battle ahead...

So i am looking for an ej20tt to throw in, while i build a replacement (using the 2.5 bottom end, will be forged rods, pistons, etc, with my 2.0tt heads) which will then be going in my brumby.

6 cyl is in the early stages of the build, and my dad is about to start stripping a brumby, to do the bodywork, for his new boxer turbo diesel project...

will keep all informed...

cheers

I agree, cant just wire it in, turn the key and start, but given the businesses selling half-cuts are bound by legislation to provide a minimum 3 month waranty, you expect the engine to be usable. As per any 2nd hand engine you put in a car, a new water pump, , and other necessaries you would have with a major service...

w/pump, tensioner, timing kit, belts, filters etc, it is a must, and anyone not doing this is begging for trouble, however, turbos, cam gears, starter motor, alternator, exhaust manifolds and such, should be in working order. and as for the black box, and other parts associated with the running of the tt setup, should come with a 'complete' conversion set-up! you must be an absolute sucker if you think otherwise...

this is not what should be expected, nor the norm, for business practice in Australia. if thats how you do it elsewhere, so be it, dont do business here. Australians are honest, honourable people, and expect to be dealt with as such. especially when spending money. OR DO YOU DISAGREE?

And have decided to just build the ej25/ej20tt hybrid immediately. got the wiseco forged pistons, eagle h-beam rods, acl bearings, all ordered, block/heads get stripped down tomorrow to go for preparation. Hoping the added capacity helps minimise the V.O.D. and benefits spool time...

should have it back on the road next week...

still looking for a b4 bonnet and bar/lip if anyone can help...ez36/twin turbo build-up has started, but believe it will be a few months before its ready. (custom computer, loom, etc has to be done, which will be very time consuming)...

Hey runamuk,

Just a question about the block, are you planning on including on including Darton sleeves or something? What about converting to semi-closed or closed deck? I'm pretty sure this is possible (someone please correct me if I'm not :D ) as I remember seeing both a 2JZ and an EJ25 being custom machined to closed deck.

Personally, I'm looking to do something similar (albeit in a 2004 Impreza) and it seems you Liberty guys are the ones most on the ball :D

@DeMobBoss,
I'd like to hear what you think in regards to this as you have already built one EZ30 and you're currently pulling an EZ36 apart. Oh, that reminds me, what about the strength of the off-centre conrods? Are forged replacements an option here?

Lets be clear the EZ30R Biturbo in the car at the moment is COMPLETELY STOCK and running at 10psi boost only - just to say it could be done with a robust tune and proper engine management rehash thanks to Paul @ Pulse Racing's 'Pulse Edit' and its still going strong some 36,000kms later still pushing out close to 290Kw at the wheels.
As far as the EZ36 is concerned closed deck is a sure thing. The pork chop conrods will be replaced with forged ones but still retaining the tried and tested pork chop design (also used in top fuel cars). Other engine internals and the valve train is also being significantly modified. When the jobs is done testing and teething sorted, hopefully by the tail end of this year - I will post a full write up. Till then watch this forum :)

What are ya doing with the EZ30R-TT when it comes out. If your interested in selling, I'm interested in buying. will juts put the H6 back together N/A, and throw it in a WRX RWD set-up for drifting, and throw your old EZ30R-TT in the wagon...

Let me know!

It's been ages since i have been on Lib.asn :alcoholic:

Had some issues with the business which required urgent attention which are almost resolved, after 2 years. so back to the car again.

I have gotten bored of the sequential set-up. I just started to change the set-up on the car again, only this time with a true "Twin" arrangement. I have purchased and installed 2 GT2556CR turbo's (yes the ceramic ones) and have gone to a front mount intercooler and Microtech LT10S ECU. Will have the conversion hopefully completed by next weekend.

Before anyone starts, I wish to clarify 2 things.

1. I know almost everyone else loves the single turbo set-ups, and the typical boxer rumble. I don't. The sound i'm getting from this car as TT with the exhaust i have sounds beautiful, and would like to keep it as much that way as possible.

2. The GTR turbos are not going to be staying there. they were available so i'm using them to see how its all going to work out. if it all goes to plan and the car responds well to the conversion,i will soon be replacing them with a pair of -7 or -5's.

will have photos up next week, and hopefully a video as soon as its tuned.
