Superhiro - Undecided!!!!

Postby garthos » Sat Mar 20, 2010 2:09 am

Damn, cant believe its been almost 9 months since this http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5617 post and Im still undecided about which rims to go for.

So anyway, about 6 months ago, I decided I was going for the 19" Superhiro's in matt black with red pins, from tempe tyres.

Image

They weren't in stock at the time, but when they did come in, I was tied up in a minor financial crisis (getting married will do it every time :))

Ok, to get to my point, today I dropped into tempe tyres to try and get an idea what they would look like up close next to the Lib. Truth be told, I was a little dissappointed and started to think think that the whole idea of Black Rims with Red Pinstripes looking awesome, may have just been something I built up, as I was really unsure about the red pinstripes, maybe too much deliberation.

So at this stage I still really like the 5 spoke matt black Rims (without the red pins), but Tempe Tyres dont stock the Hiro/Superhiro without the red pinstripes. I have included some pics, with and without the pinstripes (turbo and dodgy photoshopping) and would appreciate peoples opinions and any suggestions on some rims that might fit what Im looking for.

Any advice/opinins are welcome, and I do appreciate that pinstripes arent everyones cup of tea.......

Cheers guys and Thanks in Advance,

Garth

Yeah, not a fan of the red accents. But you gotta learn to ignore what others' opinions are and just go with what your personal tastes lean towards because these wheels will be a representation of yourself on the car.

I reckon staying away from the red stripe is a good move, it looks a bit out of character.

Had a quick look round on google for some similar styles that might suit:

Work XT7
http://www.work-wheels.com.au/products.aspx#product23

Advanti Fluid
http://www.tyrepitstop.com.au/vshop/shopexd.asp?id=652

If you had cash to burn the Enkei EV5 is a very similar style.

Goodluck with the hunt!

Garth.

This is just a suggestion and feel free to shoot it down.

Would having the red strip changed to an alloy colour be more to your liking?

Similar to the Tenzo's in the below picture.

The alloy colour just breaks it up a little and it's not as bold as the red.

Again, just a suggestion mate as I think they're a great looking wheel.

Cheers,
Rusty.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback, Ive pretty much decided to drop the whole pin stripe idea. So Im going to keep looking for some similar styles in straight black.

Cheers Jim, I agree its a personal choice/representation about the look and feel of the Lib. I received mixed opinions before fitting the Canons as well, but now they're on I couldn't be happier, just wish I'd done it sooner!

Thanks Vedi,

The XT7's and Fluids are nice Rims, not really dark enough though, but thanks. The Enkei EV5 definately fit the profile. I think I will have a look around for these in straight black, although they may not be within my budget.

Hey Rusty,

I actually think that would look pretty damn good, but its not exactly the style I was after. Now that Ive dropped the whole pin stripe idea, I'm gonna keep looking for a 5-6 thick spoke Rims in straight black/dark grey.

Thanks for the suggestion mate, its definately worrth considering.

So while I was looking around I stumbled across this thread about Rota Rims in Australia. The promo price of $999 is pretty damn cheap and if I could get the GRID (TE37 style) in black or dark grey I would be sold, but Ill need to look into it a bit further.

I'm considering painting my Calipers red as well, as I think this looks pretty good with black rims, and the guys at Ozzy Tyres quoted me $120 to paint the Calipers. It would be convenient if I could find some Rims at Ozzy Tyres and get the calipers done at the same time, but no luck so far, maybe Im being too fussy

Thanks again everyone, feedback appreciated.

Ozzy Tyres have advised they can get the following rims in straight black, 18" and 19".

Just wondering if anyone has heard of/seen or knows what these are copies of? They fall under Initial D Drift - 35A on the Ozzy Tyres website

Cheers,

Garth.
