Has anyone hooked up a reverse camera to the SAT/NAV?

Stereos, amps, phone kits, Navi...

Has anyone hooked up a reverse camera to the SAT/NAV?

As the the title suggests, has anybody hooked up a reverse camera to their SAT/NAV? Is it even possible?

If so, any recommendations on camera types? Did everything go smoothly?

Haven't got round to it yet - been meaning to for the last 18 months

Try this thread http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=3385

Assuming you have the factory Satnav (Kenwood 1200 which is actually a Kenwood DV3200) then

1. Satnav has a specific reverse camera input already present (see screenshots on post 8 and 9 http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36342)

2. Satnav accepts NTSC for both inputs (4 pin molex reverse camera input and RCA video input)

Recommend a CCD reverse camera not a CMOS for visual quality reasons (but CMOS much cheaper). Plenty on eBay but do a Google search.

Just out of curiousity, Phil, why does it say 'Spec.B-GT' for your alias but your former alias, B-Spec Liberty, and sig both indicate a 3.0R-B?

Thanks for the info bud. Will look into it. Yes, the sat/nav will be the factory oem unit. Do u know if the current MY09 is the same oem unit as all the others? Or do the oem units vary?

If I understand correctly, am I right in assuming that the dedicated reverse camera inputs will only receive an NTSC signal, meaning I have to get a camera that outputs in NTSC?

There are different OEM units. For the SpecB you are getting it should be the Kenwood 1200 (just go into the menu and one of the about screens should indicate this) I can only verify the MY07 GTB since this is what I have but I think MY07+ are all the same for the SpecBs (unsure but I believe this is due to the Macs we have).

NTSC only for both the reverse camera video input and the RCA video input. Since you are going to have to take the Satnav screen out, you might as well do both and run a RCA extension lead to the console box also so you can use a media player ala http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52355 (assuming you also get the aux in for the Mac HU)

Yup, our my09's have the kenwood 1200 system. I pulled mine out a few weeks back and hooked up a laptop to the rca video input. reverse cam input is there also and both are NTSC.
Just got to purchase a USB 4-wire resistive touch screen panel controller shortly to hook up to a laptop I'll put under the seat following the info from the first PDF in the following link Moi advised me a while back...

..oh and the aux input is standard on the my09 I believe :D

Hi, installing the reversing camera is a relatively simple mod. and definitely worth it.

These posts/pics of my install might help too...

Any luck with integrating the touch screen controller?

What was the image quality like connecting the laptop via RCA? Has anyone managed to connect a source via RGB?
