MY05 Liberty AT click sound

Hi, for those with MY05 auto trans Libertys, do you hear a click sound comming from the gear selector just before you come to a stop?

Mine has done it from new and was told that 'it's normal'. There doesn't seem to be an issue with the transmission but the click sound is a bit annoying to me and would like to eliminate it if possible.

My theory is that it has somethingto do with the Parking gear being locked out when driving and when you come to a stop it gets unlocked. I believe this locking 'feature' was added to the MY05 model to prevent accidently putting it into park while driving.

cant say i ever noticed that "click" on my old MY05 gt.

Is yours a gt?

SOLUTION : turn your stereo up a little.

i have a click on my 4AT aswell, but its just wen the it downshifts down one..

My MY05 GT auto tranny does it too. A wee bit more obvious than my friend's GT (he's not aware of it which is all the better) and another car i tested when i mentioned it to the service centre.
Doesn't bother me anymore.
