Kade, speed and marine in QLD sell the cables in conjuct with the innovate LC-1 wideband. ;)
Not sure if they sell just the cables by themself.
At present only 3 ROMS are covered:

Liberty 3.0R
04 D2WD610H (MT)*
06 D0XJ001M (MT)*, D0XJ001T (AT)*

i have submitted the my01 outback which will hopefully be included with the next def release.
I saw someone posted the 05 rom for dis-assembly, not sure on others.

tuning NA is very very easy, even turbos are not that hard.
with some good advice and lots of reading on how stuff works with these ecu's.
Take small steps and b4 you know it, you have your own ROM completely re-mapped.
AVCS is the only really tricky part, as it changes the VE of an engine and also changes AFR's in the process.

I first started with a powerFC on an RS lib wagon. Then played with my bugSTi.
The outback is next, but will be a little different with a gt35R bolted onto the stock motor.

so does that mean my MY06 3RB would be covered?

Mark, if you buy the cable, let me borrow it

Hey Clarence,

I am sure we can come to some arrangement, like you tagging along to some more Cruises, with camera of course :D .

I have not acquired one yet, still in learning mode, but the loss of the V-Tune service from STi at Docklands has inspired me to go it alone.

Now I need bickies for the dedicated notebook PC (600), and the cable (200), then some way to explain to the missus why I am spending soooo much time in the garage with the engine running !!! :D

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Not good news for those of us waiting to tune our 3.0RB Liberty's I'm afraid.

Mark, you could have just gotten it tuned as part of the group tune I was organising :P

Clarence,

I started tuning mine with Vin in Feb 09 and have had 3 in total as I progressed through the mods (Resonatorectomy, HKS Panel Filter, OilExtreme additive, V-Tune, and Quads). I don't recall you offering a group tune back then. However, if I do find a new mod (Phat Headers for example), then I may consider another tune.

Just got a new ECUdatascan from the GB, so I will learn some more about the ECU parameters before the next tune.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Anyone know what a V Tune is? I know its done by Vin @ Docklands. Is the tune done using the factory subaru diagnotic tool, since Vin works for Subaru?

Umm, you just answered you own question.

It's a dyno tune on the stock ecu done by a guy named Vin. Hence the name, V-Tine, ie. Vin-tune. Nothing more, nothing less.

Dyno Tune by Vin @ Docklands STi +10-12KW and much better response. Got a 3.0R? Do it now.

I have had two V-Tunes done at Docklands by Vinny. One on a stock standard vehicle (MY05 3.0R 5AT) and the second one after some minor mods. Must say In was impressed with the results of both and continue to take my vehicle back to STi at Docklands for all services now. I can say the standard 0-100 kmh times reduced from 7.8 seconds to 7.0 seconds. Not bad for an auto without going outside the warranty limits. Also reflected in the power and torque curves with a 10% improvement across the whole rev range. Very usable and definitely more drivable.

There is a current block on the V-Tune from "Head Office" and I cannot be sure of the reasons why, or if Vinny will ever be allowed to do them again. I have heard unsubstantiated rumours as to why Vinny has been blocked, but I will not repeat rumours as it serves no ones interest.

It is a loss of service from Subaru in my opinion to cater for the after market segment which presents a lucrative niche for people like Vinny and retains interst of people like ourselves in the brand. If I was to stay brand loyal in my next purchase, it would be a new Liberty GT or 3.6R but I would only do so if the services of Vinny become available again. It is a trust issue for me. Besides, I want to see what the 3.6R can really do if tuned.

Then again, I could just buy a VW R36 or CC and drive away with better performance!

Kind Regards,

Mark.

What I meant was, it's not Romraider correct? I know the V stands for Vin Marco and I also know he's been around the VIC WRX scene for years (BGT, JAP Trading which then became Access Auto) before working for STi Docklands.

Just wanted to clarify if the tune is done via factory diagnotic or Romraider, that's all...

Shouldn't matter what tool is used, whether it's RomRaider or other, since the ECU does not get locked or need to be unlocked to use RomRaider.

At the end of the day there are many tools to tune Subaru ECUs (EcuExplorer, EcuFlash, Enginuity/Romraider etc) and it ends in the exact same result.

Guys there is a $20 odd cable from Ebay that suffices. There is a post here http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6033.

I've got one and it logs BUT I haven't tried a flash BUT can't see why it wouldn't.

Looks like the romraider definition files are one step closer to being released for you guys. They have closed the date for rom submissions so it won't be too much longer I should think

I now have ecuedit pro which has a really nice interface its awaiting some victims LOL

You want to find out if it works for a flash  Believe me I'd hate to lose an ECU due to a failed flash its my worst nightmare aint worth the risk
