Yeah, vin is back to tuning the H6's i believe. Check the V-tune thread and see but apparently he may have never stopped tuning them!

haha...well it's getting there. Not quite finished yet though! I'll keep you all updated tomorrow about the shifter and the tune. Hopefully have some dyno sheets to show everyone as well.

Had a great experience today at Subaru Docklands STi workshop getting my car tuned by Vin and getting my STi short shifter and gear knob installed. All I can say is wow...the car now drives like it should have from stock.

Vin's tune has freed up a bit more power up top but most importantly power across the whole rev range is up. I believe I went from about 128kw to about 135kw (this is with HKS air filter and PHAT mufflers installed). A bit dissapointed in overall power figure but most important is the drivability of the car. It is now a lot more responsive and the lag from the drive by wire has disappeared completely! Much more enjoyable to drive now.

The other mods done was the STi 6 speed short shifter and the STi gear knob. The height of the shifter hasn't been changed by the STi one, but the throw has reduced noticably. The shift is shorter and tighter and feels a lot more precise.

The gear knob is also a great addition and it not only looks great, it now feels better. It's a lot heavier than the stock 3.0rb shift knob which also adds to the change in shift.

Overall, I feel that the shifter and the gear knob change have been very worthwhile and make the car much more fun to drive.

I'll update this with pictures later.

Nice work mate. How was the torque increase and profile after the tune?

Hey all everyone,

Been a while since an update on my car. Thought i'd post some pictures up of what happened last time at STi.

Here's some before and after pictures of the STigear knob/STi Short shifter.
Before:

After:

Also here's a dyno chart of my tune by Vin,

As you can see, there wasn't much of an increase in either torque or overall power, but the car does feel a lot more responsive and the lag due to drive by wire is pretty much gone which was something that really bugged me when I first got this car as the car didn't seem to respond as quick as other cars i've been in.

In the mean time i've managed to pick up a set of STi Brembo brakes front and rear so need to start collecting a few of the peripherals to get them installed. I was part of the goodrich braided brake line group buy and got hold of a set of these, but does anyone know if the standard liberty brake lines are the same as the brembo ones or do i need to offload these and get a new set?

Also sorry to everyone who wanted the Ultrex RS rims in gunmetal, as I managed to pick up the last set just so when I get these brakes on, I can actually drive the car! Now to decide what tyres to get on these. Have been scoping out the tyre threads and think i want RE001s but will take a look at a few brands of tyres for comparison as well.

I also got hold of my F1pilot carbon front lip so just need to organise and get that clear coated and installed and then i think i'm pretty much done for the time being.

Lastly, a new addition to the family came about 3 weeks early which is also another reason for me being so quiet for the last couple of weeks (combined with general laziness to post), my daughter Amelia! Born 05/10/09 and the reason why I had to get a liberty in the first place (dang car seats are massive these days!)

Now with things getting back into some semblence of routine/rhythm, I hope to get this car complete in time for Christmas.
