Volvo fire on Flinders St tonight

I entered the city via the Exhibition St extension tonight, and saw a big plume of smoke on Flinders St as I crossed the railyards.
Here's what I saw when I got there...

what do you want to do with it? what is your budget?

just a camera that takes good photos, just for multipurpose not full on for like pros just a everyday one thats decent quality

High end point & shoot's like my Canon G10 will cost you around $700 or so (depending where you buy). It's a pretty good camera if you aren't looking to get too technical with your photography. It struggles in low light and I haven't tried shooting sports (car/bike racing or field sports) but reckon it will require a lot of practice to get around the shutter lag. It's a bit bulky for putting in your pocket too. The new Canon S90 (may not be in shops just yet) looks to provide most of the new G11's abilities in a smaller form factor.

Competitors to the G10/G11/S90 are the Panasonic LX3 and Nikon P6000. I almost got the LX3 but went with the Canon because I liked the feel in the hand a bit better.

I keep an 8MP point & shoot camera in the supermarket bag I use as a briefcase to take shit to work. It was sitting on the back seat of the car. The smoke plume gave me plenty of warning to reach behind and grab it, and I stopped at the red light on that intersection. The last two photos were taken right in the middle of the intersection, coz I had to stop and let the fire truck through.

It's a Canon A720is. ("is" => image stabilisation)
