Fuel Consumption....

Postby SkoobyGT » Mon Jun 04, 2007 11:56 pm

Hey guys and girls.

I would like to know if anyone else gets shit fuel consumption, I mean BAAAAD.

I like to give my car like anyone else, but don't flog it and get up it all day, cruise mainly.

I noticed what I have been using recently as I filled up today.

48 Litres of BP Ultimate, to 260kms.

Now to me that is a joke.

What is veryone elses like?

I think my O2 sensor may be rooted, because it can't be this bad.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

Mick

if you clear your tripmeter when you fill, what does it say your average is next time you fill?
My 3.0RB averages about 10.8 l/100km

I will check my computer tomoz.

Is it the A or B reading I am after, cause I have never been able to understand it, that being said I have never really looked at it

And how do I reset it?

Based on my basic calculations, mine is using about 18L/100kms.

I should burn the piece of shit

u reset it by holding the stalk pressed... and 18L/100kms is extremely high although its a gt.. either way, theres a problem somewhere, unless ur daily route to and from work is mainly uphill which does affect the fuel consumpotion nonetheless..

I got GT and fuel consumption averages around 15L/100km (depending on how heavy my foot feels in the morning).

When doing alot of freeway driving i have had 9.8L/100kms before and generally when the fuel light comes up ive done about 500kms.

Local running about it usually sits about 10.8L/100kms, i'm not usually heavy on the accelerator as the kids are in the car often. But when they are not i like to give her some juice. Local driving gives me low-mid 400k's.

18 litres / 100km is on the high side for a GT but if you are doing mostly city driving then I can believe it.

I'm nearly crossing the 8K mark for my car.

Live in Sydney and give my car a bit of rev like most others here :p

Driving in peak traffic all the time from Ryde to Waterloo

I used to take Victoria Road, cut to Parra Road and then cut though Newtown/Enmore to get to Waterloo.. on the way to work. On the way home i'd cut through the cross city tunnel to Anzac Bridge and battle my way through Victoria Road home with the odd 2 nights going to North Sydney for Uni and driving back at night in no traffic.

That gave me averages of around 350-400km per 50-55L fuel up, or on my dash it would give high 11's and low 12's.

With the joyful opening of the Lane Cove Tunnel, I now cut through the suburban streets coming out of Pittwater road (trying to run Tom over on Blenheim st :p) and then cutting all the way through the Harbour Tunnel etc.. and on the way home it's the same route in reverse, with the odd 2 nights in uni.

This now gives me 450-500km per 50-55L fuel up, or around low 11's sitting at 11.2 to 11.4

Last fuel up was 500km, 53L fueled up. I only run 98RON since I've had the car fuelling her up with Shell V power so far. Preferences are Shell V Power, Caltex Vortex 98, and BP Ultimate (other two not used yet in this car)

I 've been driving consistently in Sport # for the last 2 months and not noticed any consumption difference.

This is before the extra few small mods I had eg air guide.

A bit of a lead foot at times :]

MY07 Liberty GT Spec B manual. I'd reckon if you had an auto, the fuel consumption would be shot by 100km less per tank etc.

Chrs,

Adrian

Mine's got about 14,500ks on the clock.

Long term average is currently sitting on 13.8l/100km which is all city, stop start, race off at the lights in S#, driving.

Can get it down to low 10s on a trip without trying too hard.

You can use either, they work independantly.
i.e. you can reset either tripmeter-A, or tripmeter-B, by holding the stalk in when that tripmeter is being displayed.
The average consumption is saved for both tripmeters, and applies back to when you last cleared that tripmeter. It displays the average for the tipmeter which is currently being displayed.
