Subaru stuffed up. Now offering me a 08

Postby sogg » Tue Jun 05, 2007 4:42 pm

well to cut a long story short, Basically i got a call from subaru today telling me that the SpecB that was allocated to me had been sold by a sydney dealer to someone else, so when the truck went to pick it up there was no car there. Apparently there are no other Black GT spec B auto sedans in the country and there wont be anymore coming (hard to believe) So they have offered me a 08 model for the same price, but i have to wait till august/september for delievery, they have offered me a courtersy car but im waiting to hear back about what car it will be.

So what im wanting to know is if anyone knows if there will be any difference between the MY07 and the MY08 models?

Thanks

i guess there wont be any major changes, if any at all..either way, it should be an improvement over the current car. if i was in ur positon, i would demand extra accessories..

Yeh i agree! i believe i am entitled to someting extra. as i dont think the MY08 and MY07 would be any different in price anyway, so its not like they r doing me a favour. And seeing as i made plans and sold my old car because i was told it would be here next week i think they should give me the best loan car they have :P. Overall i am shocked/dissapointed/apalled by the service i have recieved from subaru. I thought buying a new car would be alot more enjoyable. Stupid mistakes and false promises should never be made.

be very careful, dont except their first offer, there will be room to negoiate many more options.
have you paid for it yet? if you have remember they can get a minium of 6.25% interst on YOUR MONEY work out what thats worth to them and then demand that plus some in extras.
dont take no for an answer and wait for the sti.
ensure there is no penalty if you damage their loan car,no excess nothing.

good luck and keep us informed..

Thanks for the imput,
When i recieved the phone call in the afternoon, i was very angry and pretty much told them to get bak to me with my options, but now that i have time to think about it i will be more calm when the call comes. I havent payed for the car yet only given the deposit. I orginally ordered the car with the satnav so dont know if i can negotiate it in for free. I was also told "U can take ur deposit and walk away" but this isnt a option as i really want the spec b and no other manufacturer makes anything i like in the equivilent price range.

can you take it up with consumer affairs? they sold your car which you ordered and paid a deposit on.

I cant see any real advantage with taking this up with consumer affairs, all it would do is aggrivate the situation more

Thats a bummer dude.
Gotta be careful, you have to read the fine print....before u make further decision.

But yeah you might as well negotiate hard on a my07sti if there is any left.

I doubt that they will absorb the 10k difference just to make me happy, as the sti's seem to be selling no problems so they wont be in a rush to get rid of them. The only option that i think i have is to take the loan car (hopefully something good), negotiate some options or better price and just wait for the car to get here. Im just hoping that the 08 model will be just as good.
