I would love to know what the owner meant by this in his first post of this thread?

" minimal 4psi boost gave 225Kw and 6000Nm ATW flat lining from just below 2000rpm all the way to red: "

it has all been covered in the rest of the thread. if it's the 6000Nm that is confusing you, the dyno chart has been discussed and established that he was reading the units wrong

info: Initial dyno tuning revealed startling figures with 10psi boost we've gotten figures averaging 270Kw power and nearly 8000N torque at the wheels. Which roughly equates to around 350Kw (470Hp) at the crank! Final tuning will be done when new exhaust mufflers are fitted very soon.

What's concerning is just how easily the car seems to do it.

I've heard heaps of cars on dyno's that produce decent numbers (up to that kind of figure) and they're SO much louder and higher stressed than that thing. Clearly it's well within it's limits as it is. Certainly plenty of credit to the builder of it, can't wait to see the end result.

Very compelling proposal for a super tourer.

Hi everyone.
Sorry for the loooong silence. Only got the car back last friday. It is completely ridiculous!!!! In a good way. It goes like the clappers and sounds stock pottering around and then when you put your foot down it sounds totally gangsta :vensent: Its a real sleeper. I'm constantly driving around in I mode cuz in the other modes she's just an animal and I don't wanna loose my license. She's still unfinished with a few teething issues to iron out for which Paul is using his vast knowledge to do so. But final stage 1 tuning with TurboXS mufflers are: 282KW and 8000N at the wheels at 10psi boost I will post new photos and dyno charts soon.
I like to do a few other cosmetic mods like wheels and stuff. Anyone interested in a min meet to chat and catch up in Sydney burbs somewhere? BTW has anyone tried taking the tunnel run from Western Syndey to the Airport - provided you are mindful of the speed cams, its awesome!!!

 That's superb! Well done to yourself and the tuner for taking on such a project and succeeding.

Is there any chance you can give us some ballparks on what parts needed changing and what sort of costs (approx is more than fine) as this project seems VERY achievable for a very high HP car on a very reasonable budget.

Those numbers would suggest somewhere around 450hp mark at the fly (~330-340kW). Would also be quite interested in an underbody shot to see how you managed to sort out the exhaust from both sides of the engine bay.

I'm afraid I'm not able to discuss cost with you for this particular car, besides which this is built as a show car - to say this can be done - so the cost of this project is NOT a realistic reflection on how much it would cost to do this on a similar car without the 'extra attention to detail'. It wasn't cheap but we never expected it to be. Pulse racing are in the process of tallying up a package turbo deal for the 3.0 engine, so, if you talk to them they will be more than happy to fill you in on how much their package deal would set you back. This I doubt will be 'cheap' either but for the percentage gain to be had its well and truly worth it!

As for the 'at the flywheel' power figures I think the 450 to 500hp mark is pretty close. Its hard to get a concrete answer from anyone about how to calculate 'at the flywheel' figures from 'at the wheel' figures. I think Smythie (who knows quite a bit about dynos) said something about certain dynos having the ability to calculate this by measuring the resistance generated by the drivetrain on decel. But, without this I've resorted to either using the rumoured figure of 30 - 40% power loss through the drivetrain or using the untuned at the wheels power figure and then calculating the percentage increase and then applying that to the 'at the crank' figures. But the discrepancy between these two calculations is frustrating. It would be nice to actually put the engine on a rig by itself when we put the low comp pistons in for stage 2 but this may not be logistically possible from a electronics/ECU persepctive.

Perfectly fair. Didn't realise it was part of a design/r&d process, cost would be held close to the chest.

Out of interest, what mods were done to get this setup?
- 2 x turbo's
- dual entry FMIC???
- Dual exhsts ??
- Obviously, fuel system (pump and injectors)
- Driveline strengthening???
- engine internals??
- Flywheel changes???
- What kind of ECU??? Clearly the NA Subaru one won't cut the mustard any more, lots of new parameters to worry about

I'm interested in how far you had to go to keep it safe.

The 6MT STI gearbox is pretty much bombproof and we don't expect any issues with regular servicing it should be just fine even with stage 2 higher boost and low comp pistons... The diffs and half shafts on the other hand may indeed need to be upgraded for stage 2.
