Disabled Parking

I'm at a loss...

Do some people even have a conscience??

I parked in "parents with prams" park at Fountain Gate on Sunday (my wife and I went shopping with the bub) and right next to the PWP parks were the disabled parks. We pull up and next to me is a car... with crutches purposely placed on the passenger seat and no disabled sticker nor pass on the windscreen. As we walk into the shops, I look at all of the 4 cars parked in the disabled spaces. Only one has a sticker/pass...

Now, on our way out, I see the owner of the car next to us getting into the car. Only to watch them get out again to have a smoke, completely trouble free. They were clearly not physically disabled at all (maybe another form of disabled??). Hell, they even bent down to pick up the lighter that they dropped, then proceeded to jump up and down on the spot because of how cold it was....!!!!! Huh!!!?!??

I was soooo angry that I couldn't actually say anything. Having been disabled and legitimately able to use the parks, I can tell you now that there is nothing more infuriating than seeing this kind of behaviour!!! In fact, I'm still angry about it now.

What would you do?

Have you seen similar things?

Is there a number to dob these types of people in?

EDIT - I've just had a thought - maybe I'm jumping to conclusions... Maybe the person who I watched was waiting for the other disabled person to return. [shrugs] Either way, it's the moral of the story that I'm trying to point out.

having said that, my mum has an auto-immune disease called lupus and (until more recently) didn't look sick at all, even though every move she made would inevitably lead to great suffering. she actually felt too embarrased for a long time to use her disabled sticker.

Good topic, I understand ur anger but I’ll give u prime example.

This happened at a local Westfields shopping centre carpark.
A young bloke parked his car in a disabled parking spot, got out of his car and started to walk off. (Disabled permit displaying).
Another motorists stopped next to him and gave him hell, yelled abuse and all saying that he shouldn’t park in that parking spot as its for disabled people.
Anyways the young bloke walked off and when he came back found his car with shopping trolley damage to his car.

Now morale to the story is the fact that the young bloke looks normal however he is walking around on 2 prosthetic legs.

So one asks, is he not allowed to wear long pants and always needs to wear shorts????

Although i still agree with ur comments as allot of people do park in spots without any disabilities let alone a disabled permit.

Yeah i agree. It is hard, but i find it disgusting when peopel do it just because they are too lazy to park a few rows back.

Another story-
My mate takes his grandma everywhere she needs to go, shopping, the doctors etc. The problem is, a hotted up car with P plates and a disabled ticket doesnt sit so well with some people. They instantly think he is just a disrespectfull youngen! He gets dirty looks, abused etc which is very unfair imo.

But as i said, on the other hand, these people make me sick that take up the parks becasue they are purly too lazy to walk.

And here is the key.

If only 1 car has the pass, then only 1 car should be parked there. A friend of mine was living with his Grandfather, looking after him as the rest of his family were living interstate/away. He would often take him to the shops and park in the disabled spot WITH his permit, and wait in the car for him to return. Often he got strange looks but the bottom line is a permit is issued to those who need it.

I totally hear you.
You do have to be careful though with speaking up. As always it's a small few wrecking it for those who use them legitimately.
In NSW the RTA has a phone number and/or email address you can send breaches of the Mobility Parking Scheme to. Might want to look into your equivalent in your state.

Ive been that happen a fair bit, I reckon its down right bullshit. How hard is it for you to walk an extra 50 Steps instead of taking up a spot that someone might need (who actually has a disability) When they clearly have no disability. I guess thats what some retards do these days.

Like others have said this world has become full of people with no common sense and are down right terrible. So when does the shoot on sight come in?

I worked with a lady that had a parking permit for disabled access. She was allocated a car park within about 20 meters of the office entrance. She'd park, walk in to the office and drop her gear off then head out and walk about 3k's down the road and through the local mall to go to her 'favourite' coffee spot.

I know of another person that has a permit for dropping her mobility impaired relative off to doctors etc that parks in them all the time, her reasoning is 'why waste the permit'.

Just becasue they have a permit doesn't mean they are legit.

Alex - yep - you're right. That's why I edited the post to show that I wasn't just thinking about myself - and to acknowledge that there might be many reasons or things that can't be seen.

It's a hard one. But, I agree with Bobby, I'll just keep my mouth shut... Karma is a bitch. Those that choose to disregard to needs of others for the satisfaction or need of themselves in times of need will get whatever they deserve later.
