thanks Michael, I'll try and drop by the exhaust shop tomorrow before I take it for the tune. Come to think of it I've noticed some exhaust fume smell when getting out of the car.

Diagnostics mode is separate to monitoring mode on the unit, and isn't working for Subaru's yet, which is one of the few drawbacks of the device.

Firmware updates coming to deal with it, just no ETA as yet.

its working on my loan demo unit but there is a lot more being added plus a few things being improved. We can suggest parameters to be included such as the ones your probably seeing above. I'll make sure they go in. The problem is you have to realistically work out which ones you really need as there are so many for mostly useless things that will never fail like smog fans etc. It will be good when its all in place

Oops, I've TOLD A BIG LIE !!!

I hadn't tried connecting with the right ISO protocol, it CAN read certain errors.

It pulled a CEL code of P0101 MAF error. I cleared the CEL and it hasn't come back on about a 10km drive. No more backfire on taking foot of throttle, but that's probably because throttle respone has died in the arse - taking foot off throttle and the engine revs s l .. o w l y come down.

Should all be sorted tonight I guess......

Kewl, So where is the look up table to reference a CEL code to the code description?

Why fixed tonight?

if your MAF/air temp sensor is unplugged for goodness know what reason you'd be seeing stuff like that .
Some of the error codes were incorrect. try looking at the error under CAN and SSMII as well , thats if you have it of course

You could also just use Learning View or romraider with your rom loaded and look it up there.

The lookup table is likely in the ECUDataScan software

It's getting tuned tonight, so that should fix it !

the reason some of the cars are throwing CEL lights is due to the amount of cats in the system.. the 2.5 turbo engines REQUIRE TWO CATS if you are not running a reflash or after market ECU... you cant just chuck on the exhaust and expect it to perform..
for the people who dont want to run the ECU after market or reflash wack another cat in the centre pipe before the sensors and of course leave the one that is in the down pipe. This will fix 90% of the problems

This doesn't explain the countless scores of folks who have Phat's dump (which only has 1 hi-flow cat) who have either a stock system or aftermarket catback setup, and DON't have any CEL issues. :?

This looks like a job for .... cpitts!!! :D Local resident science guy. Craig, how about you chop the x2 cat on the stock dump pipe and fit a single hi-flow cat and see if you get CEL errors. :P

Well I have CEL errors on mine, mine is weird though, only happens when it rains. Will a tune fix it or not?

What is the usual hose that gets bumped when you put it in?

Yes some people haven't had problems but others have. How many haven't said anything either? I thought I was the only one with a problem.

As I already stated - its not unsual or unexpected to get a CEL (some will, some wont). Its purely the ECU monitoring how efficent the Cat is by taking a sniff both before and after the cat/s and comparing the values. If the difference between these measurements is outside the expected range then the CEL illuminates along with cruise light flashing. The error code points towards "catalytic efficiency outside acceptable range".

Its no biggie and wont trigger 'safe mode' etc. The reason manufacturers make it look more daunting these days with cruise light flashing etc is because historically many owners we blase' about CEL's if the car still seemed to be running ok. This way owners pay more attention and get it looked at.

A high flow cat in many cases will not operate the same way as the factory cat and therefore the measurements are different to a stock system.

A tuner will simply adjust the thresholds in the ECU for the "acceptable range" and the CEL wont light unless there is a real problem.

UrbanGTB - The hose from the intercooler to the throttle-body is a common one not to be re-connected correctly and is a b@stard to get to. Others could be the two lines to the blow off valve. Most others wont need to be touched to fit the dump.

Some? Try the majority. :D We're talking 30+ dump pipes to date, with only a very small number experiencing issues, and almost all of it was due to the install or something indirectly related like vacuum hoses and what not.

It's easy to blame the dump pipe, but it's worth further investigation.

True Jim - only a few have reported the issue and those that have are getting the Cat efficency code. So its not like you will DEFINITELY get it or anything, but its not unusal or detrimental to the car (only the environment:))

Also I would like to point out that it is simply the CHANGE in exhaust - nothing to do with the brand or type. Any aftermarket DP with a different cat setup has the same likleyhood
