Little Headlight Project

Postby hks180 » Tue Aug 04, 2009 10:57 pm

Was a bit bored so decide to do something .. and was lucky enough to get my hands on some cheap head light .. so here we go ~

Image
I had one 04 headlight & one 05 headlight, with the 04 headlight the chrome ring around the projector have bit of blue tinge while 05 one is just chrome ... so i've decide to paint the ring to the same colour as the rest of the head light ... Thanks PHAT GT for pulling the head light apart for me .. LOL (he make everything looks so easy)

Image
I thought about having the good old angel eyes or the Audi style strip but don't want to look too RICE or TRY HARD so i've put some led strip around the projector housing and a strip in front of the high beam and another strip for the parker area. And all these strips will be covered (as you will see later)

Image
At the same time i've mount all my HID ballasts under the head light (one ballast for the low beam and more for the high beam)

Image
End product

Image
Now when i turn the parker on .... this is how it look

Image
From the front

It's nothing special but just something different i guess ...

Looks great Leo, seems the placement of LEDs is only limited by your imagination.

Thanks Norm ..

parkers don't light up the road at all .. hehe

With the 5000k low beam it lights up the road better but it's bit boring ... think i like 6000k more
high beam ...i'll only use it when there is no traffic ... haha bcoz it light up the road too well !

** arhh very good mate .. but still i'll come around to check them out soon... been a while **

leo nice job mate. the only negative would be if the LEDs blow you would you have to dissasemble the lights again to replace them

nice work leo!

just wondering mate, how hard was it to get the plastic housing off the headlight? did you put it in the oven?

i'm still wanting to do my blacked out headlights thing, but worried i might stuff it up pulling it apart!

also what did u use to glue it back together? any condensation build up??

looks good!

Thats is so so true Shane .... and you need to pull the front bar off to pull the head light out which makes it even more harder ...

so these LED better be good ! haha

Michael aka Phat Gt pulled it apart for me in my garage without any heating tool but it would of made the job bit easier if bit of heat got apply to .. so warm it up in the oven would be good ..

it's not hard but you need to know what you doing otherwise you can crack the housing inside ..

i've use the original seal which was still in pretty good condition .. and so far so good ..
