[MY10]-different turbo setup on the new lib's

Rather than the typical headers and up-pipe arrangement, this sucker is located low underneath the engine!

The shots have been shown before but are hidden deep in other threads. Worth bringing it back up for those who have forgotten that the Lib turbo will NOT be the same as the MY09 WRX

looking at this, they would likely also change the direction of the intake manifold.

which would make FMIC kits ALOT cheaper, more effective and would work better than a TMIC due to the length of hoses runnign around the place....

i wonder if i can cram that engine into my car...

Looks like it will fairly simple for turbo swaps! ;)

Block will probably be the same as the current one... Could be as easy a swap as changing the headers, turbo, intake piping, cooler, oil and water lines, dump pipe... Yeahh... Nah!

I wonder just how many frontal collisions are going to now result in:
- turbo damage
- header damage
- exhaust damage
- intake/intercooler pipework damage

And maybe just need to be 'replaced' as a result.

Certainly changes the mod requirement a LOT, there's a significant shift there!!

I would suggest there will be a long wait for mechanical mods to suit this new model

Obviously with a brand new model, there will be some delay, but:

a) I think the north american market will ensure that is not a long wait.
b) This appears to be a much better mechanical package anyway (many people who would have needed to mod an MY09 will be able to achieve what they want with a standard MY10 setup).

I just wonder how much thought was given to shifting the factory location of the intercooler ... and if they ever will.

It's all a little too convenient not to use a small FMIC there. Unless they've got crash impact concerns for the greater unwashed? Looks like they've got plenty of bumper space for a slender/wide FMIC. ;)
