MY05 Liberty Owner - SEQ

Introduce yourself

MY05 Liberty Owner - SEQ

Postby teflon » Mon Aug 03, 2009 9:57 pm

Have been a forum member and a lurker for a long time but never got around to introducing myself.
Am a 2004 MY05 GT Pearl White Liberty owner ... Sedan - would have loved to have bought a wagon but there were none around at the time I was looking and I was too impatient to wait! Previously owned a version 6 WRX STI - needless to say, my better half much prefers the Liberty GT! Other cars have been an 88 Honda Integra SX16 (man I loved that car), 93 Honda Accord (twice!), 94 Honda Prelude VTiR... As you can see, I've fairly much stuck to Japanese built cars.

Only "mod" has been an alpine double din DVD head unit (W202e) ... Pending mod (next 24 hours or so) will be MY06 WRX rims (would have liked to have sourced some 08 wrx rims but they're quite hard to come by)... Current rims have a bad case of gutter rash - I think the previous owner had difficulty parallel parking.

Great forum - although I haven't posted at all I have learnt a lot especially when I was planning the head unit change. The next plan is that I want to replace the clutch but I haven't worked out if I have a dual mass flywheel as yet... I don't know if my credit card wants to know about that as yet either.

Thanks jdm rsk ... is your second city really fukuoka? I had a work trip to Tokyo last year - thoroughly enjoyed my time in Japan.

Got to love the Japanese people and culture... Don't know if I could live there though - they work too hard!

HI Gumbyy ... yes, I read through your posts several times when deciding on the head unit! (Of course your avatar had nothing to do with it :D ). Lots of great advice from you and also loweart from memory. I contemplated getting the nav system but I've heard mixed reports about it ... I think I will get a DVD screen for the passenger head rest for my daughter instead first.

Thanks GT_Tony. It was quite fortuitous how I got the head unit installed ... went to northfield nundah, and they tracked down a fascia for me for about $300. They installed it ... I've done one stereo install before only (ipod adaptor for wife's accord euro) and I didn't trust myself to get this one done properly after that experience.

Thanks for the welcome guys ... just got some 06 wrx rims installed on it today (finally!) after putting up with the original highly scratched rims for a year. I think the 06 wrx rims really suit the Liberty...

Welcome to the forums, teflon!

Awesome choice in car (model and colour!), you couldn't of picked any better :P.

Hope all goes well with whatever mods you have planned, and perhaps see you one day on a cruise.

Thanks sublime ... I really do like the pearl white colour. My daughter loves it too - everytime we go somewhere as a family she says "White car! White car!" :D . Will get the better half to take some pics and post them up with the 06 wrx rims on it.

Certainly hope to be around more often... log on regularly, just never post ... As mentioned, the head unit advice in your posts/threads was very useful so thanks again. The more I hang around here though the more I read about potential mods!
