i was thinking of the 2 litre models.. semi closed blocks , forged pistons, sodium filled valve stems etc.

the old 2 litre STI's were awesome compared to the 2.5's .... they have a limit and people find it pretty quickly

I dun know that much and I might have forgoten what my mate told me but said the 2.5 walls are a lot thiner than the old 2lt ones or something like that.

your spot on pal, thats why anything > 250 kws and your looking for trouble

better to get a lib 2.2 block , sleeve it and bore it out to 2.35 or 2.4 litre

they can handle up to 350 kws

Does that mean you can still go further with forged stuff. I think I'm looking at the 300 mark now, and prolly going to send my gear box to the man himself mr Rigoli. See what happens but.

Once your up near that level you have to pretty much sleeve or at least dowel the block to stop the actual bores from moving in the block itself. Its one of the disadvantages of an all alloy block unfortunately. It also means that it can get pretty expensive. Having said that I have all that in my STY. Sleeved block, nitrided crank, forged rods and pistons. Oh and lets not leave out the Headstuds I run 14mm vs the standard 10mm this requires a bit of maching too plus parts. You could get away with some of the new 12mm stuff though
