well guy just got my stock 04 GT it has 105xxxkm on it
i fill a full tank of shell vpower only only got 430 ish km from the 60l tank is that normal ?
i drive fairly soft off the line only go on boost every so often
i have up the tire psi and new airfilter what elss can i do ?

and what a yous guys getting from a full tank thanks

Sorry to deviate from thread, but when you can be bothered i'd like to hear why Shell fuel sucks. We all want to make sure we are running the best fuel in our cars.

In regards to consumption, i have the 05 GT Auto and when i lived in city i was only getting low 400's to a tank. I moved to the suburbs, and i got low 500's. Now i live in the country i get low 600's (if i'm good!) My record is 800 on the highway.

I find that the heavy stop start traffic ruins any chance of getting good fuel consumption in this car!

Long story short. Shell fuel is very dense and whilst it works very well if your engine is working hard, ie in the top 10% of its rev range most of the time, for normal day to day driving the fuel isn't burnt as efficiently which can leave deposits in your engine because of the unburnt additives. There's been quite a few tests done on this, give google a try, it should bring up more detailed responses.

Also, a couple of years ago MRT did a test on all the major brands of fuel and Caltex consistently gave the best results.

I have an 04 GT Wagon Auto and I average 12.4L/100kms since i took ownership about 4 months ago. Thats 30km to from work each day in peak hour traffic - so that's around mid 4000s till the light comes on (about 50L to fill).

On the note of which fuel, here in SA we dont have access to Caltex 98 so I use BP ultimate as I have always been weary of Shell, especially since having discounts...... How do you rate BP fuels Q?

Same scenario here. Thankfully my local is a caltex with a high turnover and I've never had any issues (for the last three turbo's subies as well).

i get 400 km out of a my04 GT auto tank and that is mixed freeway/suburb driving. It is STILL running super rich and the AFR is off the scale on the dyno. Based on my last cars should at least get 500km out of the tank. I'm considerig replacing the O2 sensor even though theres no error codes, but it is a bloody expensive gamble as I'm told there are no off hte shelf non-oem options.

I have a auto 04 GT, I only pour BP Ultimate and im getting about 450kms from a full tank if im lucky and average of 400kms, I only drive to and from work and the occasional weekend drive. Pretty much have the basic setup aswell Boosted, Panel filter replacement and 2 1/2inch from turbo.

I'm looking at 480 for this tank and that was with some "fun" driving from Canberra to Wakefiled park over the weekend. Saw a fair amount of boost. Very happy with that fuel consumption.

Similar to my situation. Caltex 98, mostly city driving (during the week) and can all but guarantee 450 per tank pre fill up. I'm happy with that given I put the boot into it often enough. Love hitting the highway for a good drive though it's nice to se +600k's every now and then.

hey man
new here but i have heard from mates that BP ultimate is the best fuel though i have used it in my GT Liberty and only get around 470 tops out of it and thats with the car telling me i have 40KM left as i dont want to go any lower. but reading here i will try my luck with caltexx next week
though i find it hard to believe you get around low 500 in suburbs like i live round the eastern suburbs and go to work up northern suburbs so you gotta teach me how to handle my right foot lol

when you fill up your car next time, take note of the amount it takes to refill it. Subtract that number from 64litres and you have the amount of fuel left in the tank before you filled it up
