I actually live in Healesville at the moment so i thought i'd do a bit of a reccy run of Myres Creek Rd which is part of the planned cruise because i'm really close (and could do with a fang!). Google Maps say it is a 21 minute trip, i did it flat out, and did it in just under 9 minutes for that section! My record is 7 1/2 minutes in a WRX. I love this road, not for the faint hearted though!

I went up Chum Creek Rd (runs parallel to Myres Creek Rd) and back down Myres Creek Rd. I didn't get held up by a single car which is a rarity on a weekend!

When you guys go down this road it is one of the greatest drives you will really enjoy it.

Worth noting in case anyone is a bit 'worried' about the pace of the driving - the cruise is to be taken at your own pace and there is no pressure to drive beyond them, especially with passengers.

Looking forward to it - should a be a great turn out and a brilliant drive!

Actually Steve, that's a good point to make.
I've been on countless WRX cruises, and some people (wrx drivers mainly!) can be a bit wild (not that that's a bad thing ), so we all have to remember that we are going for a 'weekend drive' and it isn't a race. Some cars will be faster than your car so there is no expectation for you to keep up with others. There will be plenty of times to regroup if you get caught behind a slow car.

Some key things to remember
-there are other motorists on the road who will be looking at bushfire damage and not you so watch out!
-on the twistie stuff its easy to get stuck behind a truck or slow car, there should be no silly passing maneuvers
-it is winter, so there will be some slippery bits
-watch out for oncoming traffic who cut corners (4x4s! )
-make sure your car is ready, check your tyres, tyre pressures, brake pad condition, wheel nuts, full tank of fuel

Sorry if that sounds too much like a disclaimer, but i was at a WRX cruise in Tassie a few years back going through the roads Targa was run on and there was a really bad accident, a guy lost it at over 200 and ended up needing a lot of rehabilitation in order to walk again. He was presented his grill at the WRX club xmas function as that was the only part of his car still intact. He was in a wheelchair to accept his grill and said he was just happy to be alive.

All in all, we are all there to have some fun, but i can tell you that there are some twistie sections in the cruise that are great, but it would be easy to have an accident. So stay safe, and drive within your limits and your cars limits.

Don't expect to see too much water in the reservoir. Last time I was working there (a couple of years ago) it was at around 30% capacity and it looked pretty empty. It's at 16% today so you might be seeing some various shit poking up off the bottom in places
