MY08 Liberty Spec B Wagon base run

Postby parso_rex » Thu Jun 25, 2009 6:27 pm

Had the wifes Spec B on the dyno this afternoon and had a real quick play to see what we could do in 15 minutes :). The car is much better to drive too. fuel consumption will drop no doubt too

I'll post the graphs & logs up later I've gotta run.

Bottom line is it makes 125 ATW completely stock on the Mainline dyno here

Sorry, 6 spd manual. I don't think I'll be able to swap out any of the exhaust at this stage. The wife is very anti-hoonage and paranoid of what her work collegues would think  . See how we go anyway. Maybe I could slip in a catless dump pipe to improve low mid torque and spool.

I've also done a tour of all of the Exhaust suppliers this week with a view to what brand we will use on certain vehicles. It looks like we will end up using a combination of two brands for the Subarus. Divided wastegate systems are off the list which now wipes out one of my preferred options :(

Definitely interested now! Twin sister car! Yay! :good:

Well, that's the same problem I have (not the wife bit) with what the work colleagues think. In my role, I need a car that does not attract the wrong sort of attention. Having said that, after deliberation and assurances from Jim (that the noise is worth the trade off on performance) I succumbed and got the Phat muffs and DP...

Thing is, I won't have a base line without the mods... I'll only have a base line with the mods, but before the tune and after the tune. That's why I'm keen to watch this thread.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers

No graphs as promised, they are on the dyno computer with my USB stick containing the jpgs and I'm not there today as its my scheduled Mr Mum day. I've done this twice now. I'm back there on Monday to sort of finish round one amongst other things so I'll get everything I can. 'Learning view' after a 20K drive home shows minimal correction.
I upped the boost by almost 3 psi in the midrange however we only had time for one run after the flash due to a damned Customer waiting the use the dyno :P . The problem here is that after the flash your IAM drops back to 0.5 and you have to bring it back up before everything is fine once more. On the drive home the Romraider logs show an 8 degree advance taking place midrange with 3 degrees top end. I didn't touch the timing at all. So what I'm trying to say is we need one more run to see what its current state is. This is the problem with reflashes you have to juggle things to get them to come back up to speed quickly to do the next correction - if required.
This case is pretty simple to be honest, I haven't touched the inlet tract its all stock so no real need to rescale the MAF table. The boost control with a slight increase in duty cycle to accomodate the raised boost on the stock VF46 turbo looks good so only a simple change there was needed with not need to fiddle with Turbo dynamics etc
AVCS I haven't sorted yet nor leaning out the AFR's in the midrange so theres a little bit to do if I feel like it you'd need a few runs to get this right or close
Expect slow progress on this

Oh I leave the factory failsafe tables untouched and I alter the switching point to these tables such that any sign of trouble results in the car switching to the failsafes much earlier than it normally would out of the factory. So say ulehs sells you some dodgy fuel that is so bad you start to experience severe knocking it will quickly pull you back to the safer tables until the problem has hopefully gone. Your fuel consumption with be Sh1t though

I've been playing around a bit more and have a nice stable tune at the moment but I won't get back to the dyno till Monday theres a Supercharged 409 CI V8 and a supercharged mini-moke (toyota 2L) on there today so no chance. All the learning view stats look good and no knock. I'm trying to see how I can get this exhaust from choking it to death I think I might just have to buy something to unleash things at least the midsection and rear. I'll have proper dyno runs up Monday night

What are the correct channels to follow re Organising a dyno day. I'd like to do this for the NSW liberty crowd at some stage. I have one already organised for the NSW WRX club in late August and am thinking about a rexnet one too. The problem with the rexnet crowd is there are some people who have been involved in car theft back out of jail back on the forums and making the rounds so it does concern me somewhat i.e casing workshops. sad but true

I guess you could just port up a new thread as an EOI for the tuning day to see what sort of interest there would be in it....

With all the peeps getting their new P3 Muffs and Dump Pipes I'd say there would be a lot of interest in a Dyno day!

When I give an opinion you have to ask yourself...what the hell does he know about anything!

I'll post something up in the NSW section to guage interest. The bad thing is my poor Liberty will be the most unmodded one around.

Good tuning work there for stock Mark and no doubt much more enjoyable to drive. LOL to "Port Hacking" as it sounds like a perfect place to hack into your ecu. :D
