Went to bunnings today, saw random orbital 'sander'?? The guy there recommended the rotational stuff for car polish instead. hm.........I am confused.

yea, the bosch machine i have is actually a random orbital sander - you'll find that pretty much all the random orbital buffers used by detailing freaks are actually sanders.........my model is the Bosch PEX 400 AE - according to Dave at waxit, that has everything u need, the right eccentric offset, speed, power, ease of use, etc.........obviously there are other brands, but the bosch seems to be pretty popular

...............all u are changing to make the random orbital sander into a random orbital buffer is just the detailing/buffing pads :lol:

.......................whatever u do, don't get a rotary buffer.......these have the power to burn the paint, in other words buff it right off the car if you are not careful enough....only pros etc use the rotaries..........on the other hand, the random orbital buffer (ROB) does not have the power to burn the paint, so anyone with a bit of common sense will be able to use it and achieve great results

Just ordered from hardware in Nedlands for $155 arriving tomorrow. Apparently there are plenty in stock in Perth, you just need to order it from your local hardware and ask the owner to sharpen his pencil on the price. If Bunnings can do for $149 then I am pretty happy to pay $155 to the local small guy.

no paint protection. saved the money on paint protection to give to dave from waxit.com.au for a large amount of stuff I just ordered. woops :shock:

general concensus is that paint protection is a rip off and is lucky to last 6 months
