Hey guys I'm currently in the process of changing my deck. i have and issue with what i think is the antenna cables. Its a 98' Heritage and there is 2 cables running into the back of the head unit which turn into a white and red cable. Now do i have to cut those and buy an antenna plug that will fit into the pioneer and re solder or what are my options.

Cheers

Sorry, can't really help you with your problem. But you're better off posting it in the Audio section. It's for.. Well.. Audio stuff.

Hi Damo,

Yes, probably a question for the audio section, but i know what you need to do anyway. Is this the standard single din clarion cd player that came in that model?

Yes, it is the aerial for am/fm. They should be hardwired ie can't unplug. Yes you need to buy an aerial plug. Cut the 2 wires off (they should be quite thin wires) and wire them into the new plug you bought. Test it out before you solder as you might have got the wires the wrong way around.

From memory though you only need to connect one wire (I don't remember which colour sorry) as the other is for a different frequency that is used overseas, not in Oz.

Hope that helps.

Andrew.

Rather than cut the wire, just clamp it to the other wire using a figure 8 clamp.

Also be aware that there may be a power line for the antenna as newer cars have power antennas, so make sure all +12v and GND points are connected.
