Running power cable

Hey guys I'm trying to run the power cable from engine bay through the firewall for the amp, and it is a b*tch of a job!

Is this the grommet that everyone has used? The other side of it is directly behind the HVAC air blower assembly, which I cannot remove because the top mounting nut is directly behind the duct that feeds the passenger side air output vent.

Is there any easier way to get the power cable through (on the passenger side) ?

just a thaught....what about inside the inner guard then through the firewall.

i done this ^^^ and zipie tied it to the loom in the top of the gaurd, and entered the cab by a gromet by the door.

jack the car up (might not need to remove the wheel if you have enuff clearance.. i did) pull back the plastic inner-gaurd and bingo straight from the battery into the gaurd.. bada bing bada boom

There is a small grommet on the right hand side of the car, below the clutch master cylinder. It comes out just up & to the left of the clutch pedal, i know a few people have used this for their boost gauge line.

That top grommet wont get you in the car at all without a crapload of difficulty (beleive me.. i tried it) Theres one on the drivers side of the car, or you can do the way i did and go through the grommet where the loom runs in just under where you are trying to go, it will come out just behind the glovebox.

If you decide to use the drivers side one, the cable will pretty much drop down behind the pedals

+1 i went throught the gromment just below the section u have circled.. it will popout just under the glovebox as noozl has said

Thanks guys I will use the grommet under the one I circled, I just wanted to avoid cutting that one open unless I had to.

I had such an unproductive day yesterday, most of it was really spent learning how to pull this interior apart for the first time so I didn't get to achieve much except for change my cabin filter and fix up the dodgy bluetooth kit wiring that the previous owner installed! (module and speaker was just rolling around under the driver's seat and the plastic casing on the module was cracked open coz at one stage of adjusting the seat it must have become caught).

Armed with this new info and yesterday's fun I'm gonna hit it again this weekend :)

I went in the one below that one.

Also when you ran the power cables down the sides of the car did you find it easier/necessary to remove the seats? I have considered using either side of the transmission tunnel instead (RCAs + speaker wires down driver's side, power cable down pass. side)but that still might need pulling the front seats out.

The gap down the sides of the car is pretty tight I have found so far.

they may be tight, but they are ok mate. I have 6 runs of 0ga, and 2 runs of 4ga down the passenger side in the gap (trust me.. that was a tight squeeze)

Without removing the seat?

Haha you must have used lube otherwise ;) The difficult part I am finding is that the carpet has all this foam and plastic moulding stuff welded to it, so it didn't seem as simple as lifting the edge of the carpet up. It's like pulling up carpet with underlay and floorboards freakin stuck to it haha.

didnt move the seat at all. Just pushed things out of the way and nearly killed myself doing it haha

Cool mate I'll give it a shot again on weekend thanks :D.

I was so disheartened by not being able to get through the firewall that I cracked the shits yesterday and did other stuff instead. Like clean the forest out my cabin filter :).

Not wanting to take the seats out unless I absolutely have to; too many stories of stripped threads which are apparently very easy to do on the Liberties.

And ye, ran it down the edge of the door in the spare clamps for more ABS lines. :-)

0 AWG would be fun tho, more-so due to lack of flexibility!

Cheers mate, got the link. Didn't realise the squarker grills on yours were solid plastic, i.e. Not meshed for the tweeters that are behind there on the lower spec models.

Also how did you write off your rex? Was it a full hektic manouvre or something silly like a tree branch fell on your parked car? :)
