Wiper Blades Replaced

Postby MH3.0R » Thu Jun 11, 2009 9:37 pm

All,

Due to the rainy season, I decided to look at what wiper blades are available and I got a tip from Sentinel about the ones he had already installed. They are from Bosch, called Twin Aero. you can find the info here: http://www.bosch.com.au/content/language1/html/5534.htm

For my MY05 Liberty 3.0R, I took the recommended sizes (different for driver and passenger) straight out of the box and installed them. I got the BBA 550 for the driver side and the BBA 500 for the passenger side. Slight difference in lengths compared to the originals but worked well as a pair. I do not recommend mixing the originals with the Bosch as the slight difference is sizes may clash.

Now have you ever suffered the smeers during damp weather? Well these things worked a treat and I noticed an immediate difference with no residue left on the windscreen after the action stops.

Not cheap, but very effective, a little over $27 each ($54 per pair) from Super Cheap Autos. Very easy to replace. I did it in the car park after purchase.

So what aftermarket wipers are you using? And what is the price? How do you rate them compared to the originals?

Kind Regards,

Mark

Haha - glad you like them Mark. I told you they rock! For us Melbournites - they are almost essential.

Just to add to this, I bought mine for $20 ea at Super Cheap so bargain with them!

Also, I measured the OEM blades and bought the size reflecting the OEM. Should be BAA600 and BAA450.

For the more technically inclined - they are designed by the same group that supply a few of the Euro brands - BM et al. They actually replace the whole blade and connect into the wiper arm with an aero bar that gets pushed down harder onto the screen as speed increases. This ensures a good contact patch at all speeds.

Well worth the purchase guys if you value good vision...

Cheers

haha, I got cheap ones from Big W (lucky the last set they had were multi-fit, didn't know the driver and passenger sides were different). They do the job better than the stock ones, but thinking I may go to supercheap shortly.

Tangles - 450 was the smallest on the Bosch listing.

I'll ring Supercheap and see what they can do for us!

Get off your arse Clarence!

I've been meaning to change the wiper blades too, thanks for bringing this topic up! Might head down to the local Auto Barn to check it out. Are the sizes different on MY04-MY06 and MY07+?

Use RainX (two coats) and you almost don't need wipers :p

In QLD almost essential. Interesting feedback will look at them next time

RainX I reckon is a bit of a waste (have tried with and without). At speed the slant of the windscreen does enough to have the windblast clear the water off the screen. At lower speeds you'll still get beading with enough rain and at the smaller amounts of rain where you need to wipers rainx won't help to bead it up any better anyway. At least that has been my experience.

on the topic of the wipers, I got a set of the Bosch's that Mark is referring to at the start of the year, think at the same price. Only good thing I have found for SuperCheaparseshit Auto. A HUGE difference over the shitty things originally on it. Think I have 550 and 450. Will probably go the 500 on the passenger side next time though. Oh, and a regular clean of the screen to get rid of oil and shit off the windscreen and a good clean of the wiping surface of the blades does bloody wonders for the effectiveness of the wipers (even when you are running additive in the washer fluid)

Yes, you forgot to mention that one must apply RainX every two days or else it's useless :P
