Bridgestone don't make the RE050 or Adrenalines in 225/40R17

in fact it doesn't look like they make any road tyres (slicks/semi slicks might be different) in 225/40 for rims smaller than 18"

Thats a great tyre, had them on MY03 RX, 205/50/16. Great tyre wet or dry however i had major problems with it after about 10K, once they began wearing out the car began pulling to the left. Was getting free wheel allignment and rotation almost every 2nd week from beaurepairs for about 6 months.

They then replaced the tyres with new set of Dunlops and car was going straight again.

A bit extra..? thats nearly double! I do second your opinion that if you can afford them.. the RE050A's are the way to go.. if not, look at RE001's (Adrenalins)

Instead of opening another tyre thread I thought I would ask in here...

I have a set of the 3RB rims that I need to get tyres for:

1. I know the stock tyres are 215/45/18 but it would throw my speedo out by about 7kms/hr....will they look like tractor tyres on a GenIII?

2. Will 225/40/18 fit onto these rims? It looks like it will bring the speedo slightly more inline. Normal tyres are 205/50/16.

What are your opinions? Get the stock size or the other?

225/40R18 will fit on the 3RB rims. That size will also be less expensive and have a much greater range of options. As you are already using a size not listed on the placard I'd be recommending that one - its OD is along the lines of 4% greater than the 205/50R16.

You'll be trading off a lot of hence ride comfort due to the reduced sidewall compliance

the tyres that are on it now are the ones that were on it when I bought the car? are they supposed to be 60's not 50's???

I am aware it will reduce drive comfort but im trying to keep the speedo inline.

I was referring to you putting the 3RB wheels and tyres on the car - I'd be surprised if that size rim is listed on your placard of your RX

yes the later model ones. but i'm 99% sure that the 05 18s are the same offset and width as the later model ones.

Same as all standard model Gen4 18's, 7" +55.

You wont need to roll guards with that size and 225's.
