Accord - fair point, but do you really think Subaru would design two different platforms?... Happy to be proved wrong... current Legacy looks pretty much the same as JDM/AUDM....

If it is that big, regardless of the styling, I'm not going to be happy. Part of the reason I love the Liberty is its size. That thing is a huge. I'd like to see it, USDM or no, next a Commodore. (Or Pontiac G8 :wink:

No I don't think Subaru has the funds to build a separate USDM version to that the rest of the world gets as a first priority. I suspect that there will be some minor changes (less flared wheel arches for one) for the non wide body cars though

Its a real shame new safety regulations have raised the bonnet and roof line so much. Overall lines seem 'formulaec', very similar to other japanese cars in this class and is a real let down compared to the sleek lines of the outgoing model. A sign of the times I guess everyones just getting in line taking no risks wherever possible, which of course means no bold design statements. Now its just another big family sedan from Japan. Frickin' shame man!!!

In January 2003, SIA became Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. signifying the sole ownership by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. SIA discontinued production of Isuzu vehicles on July 23, 2004, and began to build the Toyota Camry on February 28, 2007.

Still owned by FHI.

Sucks to live in America if you want a Subaru.

LOL I would have thought that was obvious but I spell it out for you.

"Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. ( SIA) is an Indiana-based manufacturer of the Subaru Outback, Legacy, and Tribeca line of vehicles. SIA is the only Subaru auto assembly plant in the United States. SIA Associates also build the Toyota Camry through a business collaboration with Toyota.

Yeah, I read that bit and found the history of the plant interesting. I quite like the fact that someone in the plant decided that they would share with the world some of their history.

Still, that Subaru has a plant in the US doesn't mean that the AuDM and JDM cars will be completely different in the way that the Accord Euro is different to the USDM Accord. It does raise the possibility that it could be done but I doubt Subaru has the dollars to spend on developing two different cars to be sold with the same name

The USDM cars have longer / bigger front bumpers to meet the government standards in the USA. This is one of the reasons Subaru make them there. It also saved them in shipping costs and placates the US government. Trust me the current cars are different body wise for a reason and made in different places because of that.

Different bumpers aside, that thing is significantly bigger than the Gen IV next to it in every dimension, which is what I can't get over. :shock:
