CARBON FIBRE PARTS!

Postby F1Pilot » Sun Apr 26, 2009 11:53 am

Hi guys,

It seems that there is a fair bit of interest for carbon bits for our Libs, so I thought I would start a separate thread to find out what parts people want and in what numbers. I will list the parts I can think of, so let me know if you want one. Also, please let me know what other model these parts fit.

So here goes.

The next part Im making is a grill for the 3.0Rb 2005.

A H6 engine cover.

Airbox for 3.0RB

Intake for airbox

Top halves of mirrors(are these a pull off cover? They look to be, please confirm).

If there is any other parts just let me know. I need to get an idea of numbers, so I can work out what is feasible and what isnt. And also an idea of the cost of each part.

Cheers guys,

PS the front lip for my Lib should be getting laid up this week, so I should be able to paint and fit it next weekend!!!

biggest problem, cost wise, is that if we dont already have a part to work off, we have to make a master from scratch. Which also requires a car to fit it to.

But just thinking about it now, how different is the MY07 from the 3.0RB MY05? Cause if its not a total shape change, we could probably modify the master I made for the mould for the 3.0RB. Can someone out there confirm how different these two bars are?

for the lip's, wouldn't it be easiest for someone with a plastic one to donate it temporarily so that a mould can be made from it to make the CF version?

If there is a group of people who are interested in that particular lip, then for sure that is easiest. If you can get the word out there and see who wants one and who has a plastic one to lend, then we can look at making a mould for that.

The grill would be cool I think. Of course the 3.0 doesn't have one, but if someone out there has a spare one to mould, I could definately get on to that.

As soon as I pull the grill out and look how the part will be made I should be able to give a price. Cheers guys.

Oh and the front lip is $650 unpainted. This way you could have it colour matched to your car if you wanted colour. Also the body shop should be able to fit it for you if I end up fitting it using rivnuts/nutserts. I'll keep you posted.
