New Headunit for 2005

Hi,

I know there are some threads related to this, but I have just ended up confused on what to do. Please correct me if any of this is wrong. As far as I understand my 2.5i 2005 Liberty has the headunit and AC control intergrated. Im looking to buy the new panel set so i can put in my own headunit. I have seen there are some parts on avoJDM and japanparts but not sure specifically which one to get. I dont have the macintosh system in there. The ones I have seen are also black, whereas the existing panel is a light silver/browny colour. Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy it, and the link / part number? (preferably the ligh colored one)

Do you mean this colour ?

I got mine through the PHAT man around August last year and I know at the time he sourced it from Japan for me. I have since heard by other forum members here that black seems to be the only available from Japanparts.com and AVOturbo world seems to no longer have this available to order ?????

Half correct Lok. Japanparts.com only has that in black now, and AVO does have it... but you have to search for it by it's subaru part number, which for the 2005 is H6217AG902SC. (That's kinda scary... I pulled that off the top of my head. I've been so keen on getting mine that I've memorised the damn part number!)

AVO seems a little cheaper than japanparts, by about $10, but their descriptions and pictures of the parts didn't seem consistent with what I was reading elsewhere, so I stuck with japanparts. Cost me $493 all up with shipping.

If you try and source it from Subaru Australia, it'll cost you $860

If you order from Japanparts, you'll need the A-C model. Essentially, 2004-2006 Libs are models A,B and C respectively. After 2006 there were minor spec changes, and a DEF model won't work with your car.

Yeah that is the color im looking for. I searched that part number on AVO and the image appears to be black.

The single din box you have added under the head unit, where did u get that? im looking to get one aswell.

The single DIN storage box that I used in my previous Liberty 2.5 for the single Head Unit install had to be modified to allow the motorised slide out front face of the unit to work properly and not catch on anything when inserting or ejecting a disc.

I bought 3 different single DIN storage boxes/cubby units from various suppliers to see which one I could modify/file down to suit before going ahead with the work and then selling off the ones that I didn't end up using.

I sourced my spare single DIN storage box from places like Autobarn, Ryda.com.au and ebayer sellers.
